I agree.  I liked the premier but was very disappointed that they didn't kill off Anson.  I'm getting really sick of him frankly.  I can deal with it if he just goes off into the background only to return for one or two episodes near the end of the season or something, but this every week thing has got to go.

They are violating my rules of watching a show weekly. No villain get two seasons. Resolve it, get on with it. I accept "Burn Notice" as an ex-spy procedural - Summer fun fare. I am very close to archiving the show for future viewing. (after they kill off Anson)

That was better, even though the prison formula is something we've all seen a billion times before on other shows and I completely dislike Michael's loser brother.

It seems that Michael learned to eat yogurt during his advanced training.

I agree that prison drama has been done to death but also agree that the scenes with Fi in prison using her trade craft to avoid assassination were pretty good. You are not alone in detesting Michael's loser brother. Worse, it appears to me that the actor playing the brother has had some (bad) cosmetic surgery around his eyes. The less seen of that character the better, it seems to me.

It was great seeing John C. McGinley. He cracks me up.biggrin.gif

I really liked the last episode...the risk felt real-for a change.

Fi in prison was hectic...Jesse put in a "killer" performance.

I thought this one was better than the first, but still many silly plot moments.  How hard can it be to write something slightly more believable in so many of the escapes and gullible bad-guy plots?

I like the idea of Michael being a unofficial operative for off the books ops for all agencies. It would get the show away from the usual local gangster capers.

Fi in prison felt very superfluous and the ending I saw coming as soon as the other inmate had a second scene of being too helpful. Based on this episode I would have preferred it if Fiona had been killed off because everything that takes place outside of the op of the week seems inconsequential and just a distraction. Especially when its one character with no interaction to the main group and just in her own storyline. They need to tie her back to the group dynamic ASAP. Either by having her released by the CIA as an asset in a sting to take down her old acquaintances (there are plenty of IRA groups still active ) or as some kind of Nikita-esque assassin that puts her in an opposing position to Michael's activities.

At least the bad guy this week figured it all out by himself in the car at the end, instead of being taken down and then only realizing he'd been played as he was paraded in cuffs in front of the entire team.

Huh? confused.gif This week's plotline was exactly like all the other gangster capers. Only difference was he was "working for the CIA" instead of helping out a friend of Sam's, Nick's, Mattie's, Fi's, etc. A very small distinction.

Honestly, they're now recycling old plotlines for the third, forth, fifth (LeBron James reference intentional) or more times. Please, just let it end after this season. Leave us with fond memories. Seriously, it's time. It's past time. As someone who's seen every episode of this series, I'm now only watching because of residual affection for the characters and am viewing the viewing more as a chore, like washing the dishes, than anything I look forward to.

But if they expand on it properly they can get him away from just hassling local thugs and turn him into a proper spy with better equipment and more international enemies and wider jurisidictional threats. They could even throw in a crossover with Covert Affairs.

Making him a Jack Bauer instead of a Robert McCall could liven things up.

Not Jack Bauer; that's not USA's brand. But James Bond, maybe. With cool gadgets. Now that's a show I'd watch. Problem is, it would be a far different show that would likely require a different supporting cast.

They could make it work if they wanted to. If Alias can find a way to add zombies, Burn Notice could add some proper spyjinks.

I finally saw last weeks episode... I feel like someone told me a really long bad joke. The punch line was that Anson wasn't involved in the episode well... untill the ending...

This show is tanking fast...

My DVR is cutting off recordings before the hour is up; very frustrating (if I add a minute, then conflicts with the next hour's recordings may ensue). Is that what the little blond inmate told Fi? That it was Anson that put her up to it?

At least with the annoying countdown clock you can tell how much you missed. Mine cut off with 10 seconds remaining. It says something that I really didn't care about what I missed though. Especially if it involved Anson again.

Mine did exactly the same thing, so I manually recorded the last 5 minutes of the later showing at 2AM.  The blond just tells Fi that "someone wants you dead" and leaves it at that.  The previews didn't add anything to that either.

I assumed it was him. Who else would it be? Even then a whole episode where Anson isn't threatening Micheal, but just doing his own thing? lol...

Yeah, well, I'm not too happy about the USA new policy of not having any credits, just have the last frame of the ending show a frame of black, and the start of the next show with no "exit". Still, it beats the TNT way of doing it, having the credits and the next show begining on screen in small side-by-side pictures at the same time.frown.gif I really dislike that!

I've noticed that on a lot of Turner networks. USA is succumbing to the same cable broadcast presentation that makes watching other shows an annoyance more than entertainment. Stupid Twitter hashtags littering the screen and countdown clocks for people who don't know how to tell the time.

"I just turned over to USA to watch my show but I can't tell exactly what time it is! The clock says 9.59 pm but I need to know exactly how many seconds I have to wait! If it's more than 40 I'm switching channels!"

TNT is actually getting worse with their bright yellow logo and constant need to tell the viewer what show they are watching in case the onscreen guide popping up at will isn't on long enough for them to remember.

Anyone hear that they are killing off a semi regular character this season?mad.gif Supposed to really re-boot the show into a new direction.

As long as it's Nate. biggrin.gif

I did not hear that, but that might be just what this show needs if it is to last considerably longer.

I'm not into killing off important characters just for the sake of killing them off, but the crew constantly gets involved in extremely dangerous situations and killing one of them to change the show's longstanding formula could be a very good thing. That of course is just my opinion.
Another "good" episode....same formula...still entertaining.

Michael Weston has to be the most creative spy ever...he has a plan for every situation (?).

I must admit, despite the usual plot silliness (the ship's crew just accepts him as a CDC doctor and turns over the whole operation to him with no questions asked) - it was an entertaining hour.  The mix of the 2 stories was well done and both were relatively interesting.  I had read about the character possibly being killed off and I'm glad I haven't seen any spoilers about it - thought I would think that info alone is semi-spoilerish.  Personally, I don't think the show has the legs to continue, even in "another direction" based on losing a main player.  But, I have been wrong before after all - I was a lookout at Pearl Harbor.

Whether its true or not, a basic premise of the show is that if someone acts like an authority figure, he/she will most likely be obeyed. I do think that is true of human nature. Michael & Co. set up an emergency and come in like gang-busters telling the ship's doc that if they don't listen to him, everyone will die. I actually do think most people will fold in that situation.
So I just started last week's episode... :sigh:

Edit: Well, at least it got better. Next one looks ok too I guess.

Not to over-analyze a silly TV show, but this just doesn't add up.  Human nature may work that way in minor interactions, but not in highly professional and near emergency situations.  No doctor and staff I know of would simply turn everything over to some unidentified man and wife who claimed to be "CDC" and immediately order everyone to do everything this man says.  If nothing else, beyond the medical professionalism, they would surely be concerned about legal issues and at least ask for some basic ID.  Please, this is TV and I accept an amount of stretching logic, but this repetitive line of Michael orders everyone he meets to just bend to his will can get a bit old as the "tried and true" method of problem solving.

The thing that impressed me the most in this episode was the producers springing for a Bentley rental. Otherwise, business as usual.

It was probably Donovan's own personal car. The producers probably wanted a Chrysler 300M with the Bentley grill.biggrin.gif

I loved Lokken, but seriously... Anson continuing to threaten not one but two people and not be in the room... ??

Duh question of this season... WHEN will Micheal "get" Anson...
