Burn Notice on USA HD - Page 34

This show has finally done a "make it up as you go" episode.

Burn Notice needs real writing and a new direction.

It just needs to stop. Enough is enough and the premise is just too old and tired now, espcially since there are only so many ways you can disguise the exact same episodes with the exact same plotlines using the exact same characters. I don't watch any other procedurals - they bore me to tears, as a rule - but I would expect the same stagnation would creep in after awhile if the plotline is not constantly evolving in new and different directions as a good serialized drama does.

I'm predicting it's either Nate or Pearce. I can't see them getting rid of anyone bigger and not have backlash. Not even Jessie.

Watch it be something lame like this chick who is helping Fiona in jail or it be nothing more than them killing off Anson at the end of the season.

If they'd just announce a series end-date, they could kill all of 'em off. tongue.gif Leave Sam as the only one left sipping his mojitos on South Beach because he's Bruce frakkin' Campbell and he's awesome. cool.gif

Love it! biggrin.gif

Better episode...real tension - semi-believable betrayal.

So next week someone will die...please let it be NATE...anyone else would be missed.
So Nate is dead (and this is supposed to be a bad thing?), well at least they let him die a Hero.

Anson is dead...really Great, except who ever killed him also killed Mike's Brother.

Fi is cleared and released- so is Mike back? Is there a new, new, even more hidden evil force to be discovered? rolleyes.gif

Thought most of this week's episode was even more formulaic than it usually is but it caught fire in the final 10 minutes. Is it meanspirited to express gratitude over the demise of the serially incompetent and irritating Nate? If it is then I plead guilty. Was also pleased to see the overlong Anson thread finally come to a close. Looking forward to seeing what the writers give us in the final 6 episodes.

Not at all; it is only sane to express gratitude over his demise. Two of the show's biggest problems were finally ended with one bullet.

Upbeat music should have been played at the end (accompanied by dancing) instead of that excessively somber tripe. biggrin.gif

I didn't mind this episode. I've always liked Barry. Thought his "boomstick" reference was great.biggrin.gif Also, it's so refreshing to see Anson gone. He was more annoying than two Nates.wink.gif

I have liked Barry a lot, and this episode was no exception. "You smell like bacon!"biggrin.gif

The loss of Nate is a plus for the show, but now I am bothered by the implications of the resolution of the Anson plotline. All throughout the show, Michael has been peeling back layer upon layer of "bureacuracy" until he finally found Anson, who was supposed to be the rotton core of the whole organization that burned him, but SOMEONE killed him. Nate was just in the line of fire, bacuase no one would really care enough about him to kill him. Is there yet another layer beneath Anson? Will this never end? I hope I am wrong, but I fear it's becoming like Wagontrain, always going, but never getting anywhere.

"They just keep wagontraining...!"

I'm guessing it's John C. McGinely. I don't know how they'll spin it, but he's too cool of an actor to waste on only two episodes. I hope he has been behind the whole thing. It wouldn't make much sense, but has anything in this show the past few seasons? smile.gif

Nate's demise was so predictable as to lose any suspense.  They bring him back out of nowhere a few weeks ago and then announce a character's impending death.  It also served to peel back yet another layer of this seemingly impossibly layered onion.  The way a new "layer" keeps popping up despite all the "...Michael, this is the final guy to your burn notice..." plots, this could go on forever and has long ceased to be interesting.  The Wile E. Coyote plots continue, like the mansion assault - just how long does it take for a group of highly motivated bad guys to start the assault, while Sam has enough time to fully wire shotgun lights and prepare a whole house explosion and bathtub protection?  Sheesh, just get it over with already.

How long does it take to fry two pounds of bacon--extra crispy? That was alot of fat! Maybe they had a big bottle of cooking oil in the cabinet that might have worked just as well.rolleyes.gif

That was some bullet, and humongous hole in wall. From the wall hole and the two wounds it was evident that the round was fired from near ground level. Yet everyone was looking way upwards for a sniper.

At least the writers had the good sense not to have Nate wear a red shirt.

Or - admit that it is a burned spy "procedural" and skip the season long arcs, convoluted backstories, and progressively more evil antagonists. It's light Summer fare in my book.

Probably not - it likely would have been vegetable oil, not animal fat.

Even that big tub of Crisco likely would have been vegetable shortening.

That being said, the fat was a device to allow the writers to mix things up a bit with the "home chemistry" stuff. They could have easily used any number of cleaning chemicals under the sink to make gas bombs and other explosives. The problem is, they have done that. Making smoke bombs with bacon fat and beer was something different to show them doing.

I'm confused.

Didn't they need Anson alive to get a confession out of him so Fiona could be freed? How did Fi get out of prison then with Anson dead?

I'm also trying to figure that one out. Does anyone know why Fi was able to walk out of prison?

If that's the case, then why was she still in long enough to be threatened by that British guy to the point that she had to pretend to break out?

*FINALLY* Anson is dead.  When he turned up again this week my wife looked over at me and said "is this guy ever going to die?".  We got that answer.  Nate never bothered me much but I just knew he was going to bite it although I figured Anson would turn around and grab the gun and shoot Nate just as Michael and company pulled up and they would then shoot Anson or take him into custody.  Didn't see the sniper.

Fi is out because she already had a deal with the CIA and getting Anson (dead or alive I guess) was the last piece needed.  MI6 stooge was trying to derail that though.

Obviously going forward we'll have the "hunt for Anson's/Nate's killer" which may burn off the rest of the summer season.  And they could also go deeper with Fi and MI6 and her IRA roots.  We've gotten more backstory on her character this season and I could see them pushing that a bit more.

Oh, loved to see Barry.  I think he hasn't been on for a couple seasons, although they have mentioned him a few times.

Meet my friend, El ojo del Diablo.biggrin.gif

I didn't mind the the Sam and Jesse adventure this week. Have we seen Elsa before? I don't recall.

I'm fairly sure it is the first time she's been shown. I've seen the actress who plays her in something else, but I can't seem to remember. One thing I do remember is that she's a total hottie.

I just did a search and read that the actress who plays Elsa is Jennifer Taylor. She has a most inviting website. biggrin.gif
