Are the manuals for these new models available for download anywhere? Thank you.

Not that I've seen. Is there something specific that you're looking for in the manual or do you just want to see the whole manual?

I too would be interested in the A35 manual.

I still have not heard what the A30 does for downsampling over the optical cable. DD like the A20, or DTS like the A2?

- From my A30 manual.

HD DVD Video Advanced Content
- DD Plus/Dolby TrueHD > Dolby Bitstream
- dts-HD/L-PCM > DTS Bitstream

HD DVD Video Standard Content
- DD Plus > Bitstream
- Dolby TrueHD > Dolby Bitstream
- dts-HD > Bitstream
- L-PCM > DTS Bitstream
- MPEG > Bitstream

I hope that helps...

Thanks, Tokerblue. I think that means DD Plus will come across the digitial optical cable as DD, which is what my receiver can handle. That means the A30 will work for me!

I would like to see what the differences are compared to my A20 in order to decide whether it would be time to upgrade...

The only real difference that I gathered from when I was doing research was that the A30 has the new look and slightly better load times. Functionality wise, it should be the same due to the constant firmware updates.

The A30 also has a smaller (downgraded) display which is a big turn-off for me. The new look is better but the load times leave me unimpressed.

This is what someone else said on another thread:

The higher end A20/XA2/A30/A35 all down convert to regular Dolby Digital at 640 kbps which isn't nearly as good as DTS at 1.5 mbps so at least you picked the right HD DVD player to go with your older receiver.

Can this be confirmed by someone else? It seems like the optical quality on the A20/XA2/A30/A35 are not as good as the A2!
