There are several import HD-DVDs available with DTS-HD MA. e.g. Total Recall, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Terminator 2, Underworld, Silent Hill, etc. I'm unaware of any US domestic HD-DVD releases with HD-DVD MA soundtracks.

There must be a trick to changing from 8 to 6 OHMS. The manual says hold down both the standby and setup buttons at the same time from in standby mode. I have tried for a while and still can't get it. Do you have a secret trick or can that setup be accessed in the setup menu?

Guys,

I'm sooo close to ordering this receiver. I just want to confirm one last thing with current users: there is NO LFE problem, correct? I will be hooking it up with my XA2 via HDMI. I found these receivers for $845 shipped.

Thanks,

Several people here talking about buying the receiver from value electronics.com. Are they an authorized seller of Pioneer Elite? They don't show up on Pioneer's website.

Thanks,

I have an A-1 HD-DVD as well as an Elite 95 BR player and zero LFE prob. In fact with the phase & Standing Wave EQ'd via the auto-EQ function this receiver is sounding quite a bit better than the Denon 3805 I replaced. (although I'm just usiing it as a pre-pro) I couldn't be happier.

Not from what I have heard so far. I just got it yesterday and did the set-up and have watched Superman Returns HDDVD and am watching now SkyCaptain of Tomorrow HDDVD and the bass and surround are outstanding. Can't tell you about blu rays as my Pioneer Elite 95fd won't be in till Monday. My XA-2 through bitstream hdmi is displaying DD hd and DD plus for these 2 movies. I will test DTS HD MA on Monday night after I hook it up.

Pull the trigger, you only live once and you won't regret it,

Mr Ian B

They are indeed, if you go to Pioneerelectronics.com and put their store's zip code, it will be the first one on the list. I got mine from him at a great price and excellent service.

My previous receiver was the Pioneer VSX-72TXV. I had notable lip-sync issues with that receiver used with my Toshiba XA2. They were connected via HDMI.

Happily, now that I am bitstreaming audio to my new Pioneer VSX-94TXH, all lip-sync issues are gone. Discs that were trouble before are perfectly fine now. It all works the way it is supposed to work. I never even had to adjust for any audio delay.

Hello,

Received my Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH yesterday. One word... Amazing!
I had an Onkyo 805 for a week and the Pioneer is superior in any field.

Took my old Pioneer VSX-1014TX to power my second zone speakers.

I would recomend this receiver to anybody. Elite indeed.

They took all my info including name/phone number and told me that the engineers would look into it. Well, early this afternoon, the Pio rep called me back and told me that they have been in touch with Toshiba due to the calls they got regarding this problem. Toshiba confirmed to them that it is on their end and they are working on the problem. Then they told them to tell customers that version 1.3 should rectify some if not all the dropout issues.
So I updated to 1.3 using the iso and low and behold...I played 3 movies today that prev. gave me fits...Transformers, King Kong and Shooter. All 3 played flawlessly bitstreaming that DD+ track. So they might be telling the truth. I sure hope I don't have any further issues. Time will tell but so far so good for me.

Also, I've read that people have had success with changing HDMI cables for whatever that's worth.

Edit: Why it seems like some people are having success with AVR updates, some people are having success with different cables and now I've had success with version 1.3 on my A35...I have no clue how this all relates to the dropouts. It's been a weird thing.

Thanks for the update. They took my information and I opened up a case, so hopefully I'll hear something soon. I'm actually using the XA2 which just got a firmware update recently (2.7) and I still have the problem. Now, it doesn't occur on every disc, but was really bad on King Kong. I can try changing the HDMI cable too for the hell of it.

Hi,

Yesterday, I tried the new version of the MCACC 2.0 and it now works with the 90's series 2007 receivers. The oldest version was version 1.4 and would give an error message and would not download the readings to the computer.

Would like to hear from anyone using 4ohm speakers. Pioneer does not list a 4ohm setting or specs on their site. Is anyone using these? Thanks.

you have to do it from the avr not the remote ie flip the front panel down and give it a shot

I've just finished testing and comparing this receiver for the past two weeks with various movies and music DVD's, and it is a real winner, IMO. I've compared it with the Yamaha 1800 (which I could not get to work completely right as a prepro in a 7.1 setup) and with the Marantz 7002, and while all these receivers are very, very good, and these choices are very much personal preference, the 92 TXH is the one that is going to end up in my HT. It sounds just awesome on movies and music, and everything I tried work, i.e., I did not encounter any bugs in setup, with any inputs (including HDMI), and it interfaces just fine with both my HD-DVD and Blue-ray players.

I wandering if either of these receiver supports the 120hz video pass through or is that something the tv does by itself. because i plan on getting a xbr 5 and i want to use tis feature.
I continue to be impressed with this receiver. Just got COD4 for xbox360 and I've never heard a video game sound better in my setup. I really believe the audio calibration tool is what sets it from the pack. Without the right room calibrations no receiver will sound good. Thank you pioneer.

To my knowledge it is something the TV does once it receives the video. The video source does not output 120Hz refresh video.

Also, why not an XBR4. I was also looking into this TV and did a comparison and was wondering what in the world is a the difference between the XBR5 and XBR4 ... granted you are talking about the LCDs.

Sorry to get a little off topic. Thinking about buying this AVR and have been reading over this thread.I appreciate all the information posted on here. Thank you.

Anyone using this receiver with Klipsch Reference Series speakers? Your opinions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Got my Pioneer Elite bdp-95fd blu ray player today and have played Die Hard 4 and Fantastic Four:RSS and WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!, these advanced codecs sound incredible through this player and avr. I noticed no sound when DTS HD MS selected and the secondary track Dolby surround is not 5.1 I hope they will do an exchange on this one. Other than that, I am more than happy with these purchases. Thanks to everyone in this link for all the info that led me to make this purchase.

Bumping this thread on the receiver so you can get as much info on it.

Good luck,

So I've had this receiver for a couple months or so, but had a quick question. Have a PS3 and it seems that those need to be set to PCM to play the tracks of movies. It is of course hooked up HDMI and when movies are getting played the receiver says "PCM" on the screen and none of my setup speakers show. If I switch to Bitstream on the PS3 then all my speakers show up for 5.1 and the sound changes dramatically (the sub especially). My question isn't so much what should I have the PS3 set at as I have left it at PCM due to the threads saying leave it at that as it can't send TrueHD out Bitstream, but what do you guys have your receiver set at when running PCM from PS3 or Bitstream for you HDDVD folks with Toshibas? I have mine on the "Dolby Digitalx Movies" when playing shows and/or movies. Does this make a difference? I can tell a difference in sound and this seems to sound the best. Or is there a setting that plays the true track of the movie that I'm not catching on to? Just double checking to make sure.

I'm loving this receiver. I have DefTech Mythos Fours mains, Three Center, Polk In-Ceilings (4), and a SVS sub and I LOVE the sound.

I am looking at purchasing a Pioneer Elite 92TXh. I am lost when it comes to the benefits, reliability, feasibility and general usefulness of the Faroudja DCDi 1080p output feature.

Has anyone ever connected their DTV HR20/21 DVR using component with a 480p output and/or their standard 480p DVD player to the receiver thru component and output the signal using the HDMI 1080P option with their receiver?

Is their a discernible difference? Will it clean up a signal that is coming in on an MPEG2 channel and gets pixelated with transitions or poor compression? Is it even necessary with the 1080P processor in the television already?

Any help or information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Pauper

Pierre

What I've learned so far of Advanced MCACC.
First you have to get the newest version of the MCACC software. I was fortunate to get a copy (14 MB) from Pierre. It should be up soon on the Pioneer website.
You have to get a cable(s), make sure it is a DB9 Null Modem Cable F/F. In my case I was using our laptop so I had to also get a USB to serial cable and install the included drivers.
Once hooked up go into the setup under Data Management / Output PC, then start the software and go file receive, select the port setting (mine was COM5), it downloads the information and you can check it out.
A big thanks to Pierre for getting the software and helping me out.
So far so good

Paul

I just connected the receiver last night, didn't have time to fire it up and go through all the setting up steps. I did read the whole manual, and there was much info that I didn't fully understand. The Advanced MCACC was confusing. Do you guys manually calibrate each speaker? I'm planning on just doing the automatic configuration. There are tons of different sound processing modes. And should I leave Phase Control on all the time?

Thanks,
