Thinking about switching to PS3 from 360

I am thinking about switching to PS3 from 360, but I need some feedback.

Reasons:
PS3 online is free, sick of MS putting out product that needs accessory and upgrade to get hdmi and high def movies,upconverting dvd thru vga (washed out color),extremely noisy system, wifi add on, I strongly feel that hd dvd will lose the format war, to save money in long run. (Honestly, I enjoy 360 online experience)

(1) How is the online gaming on PS3,I? Are there enough players, server lag, match set up time?

I mainly play shooters. Halo 3 and GOW no longer interest me. I will be playing COD 4, RB6, and Brothers In Arms Hell's Highway.

(2)How is quality of PS3 upconverting regular dvd on display on 720 or 1080 display, which display look better with ps3?

(3)Does PS3 play video files, avi,dvix,wmv, on cd-+r disc, dvd+-rw, dvd+-r etc?

(4)Dual Shock recharge battery how many hours does it last? I will lose rumble, but I will get use to it, don't care for 6axis.

(5)How is the online browser?

(6)What kind of downloading content available, demo, movie, tv etc, Speed of download?

I care mostly for demo, never bought anything from live market place.
