Great, thank you. I love these forums for knowledgeable answers like this. I have never really dove into Audio setup before but all the manuals online and information available on forums like this, I have dove in headfirst and read, read, read some more. I found that the equipment I had and they left is pretty descent stuff and I don't have to pay someone $75+ an hour to do it for me. I had a home theatre in San Diego I spent some descent money on. I brought some of that equipment with me and have slowly gotten in all setup.
I read the manual online but I must have missed the panel lock turn off part. They did not leave a manual here at the house so I will look again.
They did leave behind the speakers but I replaced most with my own system. I am using their rears in the ceiling and their dual center Atlantic Technology 373C. They have two center 373's side by side and I was wondering if I would be better off with just one???? Never seen dual centers.
I did hook up a MIC and run Auto setup with Audessy in 3 main listening positions with my new speaker setup, AT 8200 dual subs, AT 8200 L and R front. AT 373 dual centers and unknown but seemingly descent rears in a 16 foot high ceiling. After running setup I noticed a much more balanced sound. It's a big room, not a theatre. Just a 5.1 Setup not 7.1. I believe the old system was setup by an AV company as most of the settings in the 2808CI seem to spot on.
Subs and Front:
I have the Atlantic Technology 8200 THX Ultra 2 Dual Ped Woofer system. I am using all the speakers except the center since my center does not fit in the provided space without some cabinet remodeling.
They also left behind a an Adcom 7805 Amp.
They did leave behind a nice Velodyne 15" Sub. Which I believe was a $2000 sub in it's day. However with a lot of money invested in my own AT system I am using that for now and the Velodyne is idle but I will put it to use.
Thanks for the info on the Optical vs HDMI. Last night since I was out of HDMI inputs (none drawback of the (2808ci) I hooked up my Apple TV to the TV directly but ran an optical inout to the Aux input in the front of the 2808ci. That audio is working great.
