I dig out my 9 year old Panasonic non-progressive DVD player and there is no problem anymore. I also dig out my 5 year old APEX cheapo DVD player and still no problem. (Panny is using Optical out and the apex only have croxial)

I think it is my DVD player's problem. Even play in stereo mode with analog audio cable, same thing.
For my HTPC, I switch the internal DVD drive with another DVD drive, then the problem is gone.
hum.... I guess my old kenwood 1090VR maybe just more forgiving since it never had this problem before. (same DVD player and same HTPC DVD drive).
I never know once my AVR is upgraded, I will also need to upgrade my DVD player. :P
