Can't get 24fps to work on my Pioneer PDP-6010FD

I still can't figure out what is going on when I set my XA2 player to 1080p/24fps. As soon as I do that, the picture goes black for a second and then comes back with a horrible flicker and I guess what could be described as a very digitally noisey picture. I've tried shutting the TV and the HD-XA2 off and turning back on, tried connecting it straight to the TV and not going through my receiver, tried a different HDMI cable and can't seem to get it to work. The normal 1080p seems to work fine but not 1080p/24fps. By the way, I own a Pioneer PDP-6010FD which is suppose to support 24fps.

Tried the plasma forums and had no luck so I figured I'd try here now.

I just got my Pro-150FD today so I can offer a guess, it has something to do with "pure cinema" settings. I believe you need to go into setup on the 6010 then select "picture" then pro-adjust or maybe it's advanced. Now find PureCinema click on that then select advance (the choices are off, standard, smooth, and advance). The 150FD may not be like your 6010FD so check your manual however to enable the 72Hz or 3:3 pulldown feature it is under PureCinema.

As a proud new owner of both a 6010FD and an XA2, I'd be curious to hear what you find out and how/if you solve this problem.

I have not had a chance to do the update yet and still need to read a bit more on the pros & cons of doing so. My one (big?) concern is the supposed loss of Reon processing with 1080p/24--is there a way to disable 1080p/24 and enable the Reon processing when viewing standard def dvds?

Sorry to get a bit off topic and good luck with your issue!

I think I remember reading a post where a 6010 owner was getting 24fps to work with his 6010. I got my parents a 6010 and I have been trying to decide if I should get them a XA2 or an A35. Post back if you get it working also.

1080p/24 works great on my 6010 from my PS3.

On my XA2 it looks great until it starts dropping frames about
every 40 or so seconds. Waiting for a fix from Toshiba.

Are you seeing this flicker with HD DVDs or SD DVDs? If for HD DVDs, do the following....

Select 1080p/24 on the XA2==>set Pure Cinema to Off on the 6010==>Power cycle the XA2.

I'm seeing the flicker and messed up screen as soon as I set the XA2 to 1080p/24, no DVD or HD-DVD in it.

I had exactly the same thing tonight when I tried 1080p/24 for the first time on my Pioneer Pro-150FD (similar ti 6010). What fixed it for me was to replace the HDMI cable going to my Denon 2807 receiver with a better cable and wham it works every time now.

Hmmm...I'm using the 1.3 certified cables from monoprice. What cable are you using now? And when you say to you Denon, is that the XA2 to the Denon or the Denon to the TV?

I replaced the cable going from the XA2 to the Denon. The cable I replaced was a MonoPrice HDMI cable replaced by another brand (I forget what brand but not Monster and not 1.3) which I believe I had bought at Target a year ago. I think now I'm just going to buy some better cables maybe from these guys http://www.mycablemart.com/store/car...FRT2YAodWWCuiA

I think I read somewhere on AVS that they are the same exact cables from monoprice at that site.

I have my XA2 set to output "up to 1080p/24. I have my Pioneer 6010FD set to Cinema "Advanced."

The XA2 is being run through my Denon 3806 via HDMI (for both video and audio) to the Pio's HDMI4 input. When I hit display for HDMI4 all I see is 1080p. Shouldn't I be seeing 1080p/24?

I thought maybe my Denon 3806 might not be passing the signal but folks at the Denon thread assured me that it certainly can.
