(?) Projector set at an angle from screen

Is it possible to adjust the picture to get an image square when you're projector isn't square with the projector screen?

I have an infocus in72.

To clarify here is a birds eye drawing of what i mean:

That would require horizontal lens shift and / or horizontal keystone correction. Lens shift would be fine, but keystoning might cause you some issues if gaming or using it for desktop computing. I'm not sure the IN72 is going to hack it though.

The image will be a trapezoid without horizontal keystone which will probably degrade the image somewhat.

Hello All,

Hope you are all well.

Slim150,

Afraid you won't be able to do that with the IN72, could you possibly put it in front of the couch on a table?

If the projector has to be in that corner, you could hang a pull down screen diagonally from the ceiling and put the couch at the same angle of the projection.

Even an LCD unit with lens shift normally can only shift 50 percent of the screen width, which places the projector either one side or the other of the screen. Your diagram has the projector farther than the edge of the screen off center. You would need to move an LCD unit right to the end of your couch to make the lens shift work for you.

If you really need this placement, I would sell that projector and get a unit that can do significant horizontal lens shift, like an Epson Home Cinema 400. Or better yet, if still within the window, exchange it for one.

Sorry about the bad news.

Tony

Thank you very much everyone for the replies. Its not necessary to have my projector on the side like that, but if it were possible i wanted to try.

My ceilings are unfinished cement slabs and I don't really have the know how to put in my ceiling projector mount in them.. so I have to go with a wall platform.. and just thought it would look odd coming from the middle.

Rather than just setting it on a shelf though, I think I am going to hang a shelf, but then use part of my ceiling mount and mount it underneath. What do ya think?

Hello All,

Hope you are all well.

Slim150,

That solution will work just fine, just make sure the offset on the IN72 will not hamper your installation.
