SVS has a bigger amp and comes in rosewood for only $100 more.

If Rosewood is important, for $100 more, get Rosewood. Both are excellent subs.

It would match my Rocket speakers.

Isn't it a better sub, or are they pretty close in performance?

Should be a very close match. Some pics of my friends setup, his WAF is very high as well!. Not the exact same sub but the wood should be the same (He's running Rockets and a SVS PB13):

Before he swapped subs:

Hey, that's my set up! What's up, Brian!

I looked at those pictures and I was like... who in the world.... haha

I think either sub, the Hsu or the SVS would mate with the Rockets VERY well. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I think the Rosenut color that the SVS comes in would be a better mate and more "Wow"ing than standard textured black especially with the Rockets.

lol, Hey Aetherhole Hope you don't mind that I shared your pics, IMO they do a better job of showing how they'd look in the home than SVS's site, plus he has rockets as well.

haha Not at all! Go for it!!!

The PB13 is rosenut & the PB12 is rosewood. I think the rockets will be a better match with the PB12 in rosewood than the rosenut.

However, if the sub is used for 95% movies will I be better off with the SVS than the HSU?

Guys, I just ordered the svs to settle things. I think I will like having the svs a lot more since it will have the bigger amp, and especially the matching veneer.

This will complete everything I wanted for home theater equipment, accept I wish I could justify spending the cash on Anthem electronics.

This sub is replacing a Polk PSW303. Hey guys, how much will the svs blow away the polk

Just looked at the one, looks pretty dam sweet IMO and your right would match better. You'll have to share some pics with your rockets when it comes.

Here is a thread on cables, some others as well if you do a search. Seems like pretty much any cable will do. I've purchased HDMI and some component cables from monoprice and they do the job fine IMO.

I have purchased several cables from monoprice also, not a sub cable.

Thanks for the link.

Is an RG6 cable better than RG59 for a 25 ft run, or does it even matter at that length?
just go for rg6. the price difference is minimal and it is better.

I run RG6 95% Braid Cable, Crimp on Ideal pressure seal connectors, then screw on F-Connector to RCA converters from Radio Shack and it works mighty well with my new PB12/Plus 2.........

If you have a crimp tool or have a friend that does you can make your sub cable to the exact length this way!

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately I don't have the tool and I already ordered the cable.

since I ordered the sub on Saturday, how long will it take to be shipped out & how fast is shipping? I live in Iowa if that helps to gauge time.

You will very likely have your subwoofer in about a week.

I ordered mine on Wednesday of last week and had it on Thursday!

Granted I drove 4.5 hours each way from NKY to pick it up from though!

Patience is a virtue, but not one that I exhibit.

BTW:

I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I felt bass extension in the graphics from the NFL games yesterday with the volume LOW on my receiver so we could talk to each other! After demoing U-571 for my father yesterday morning his statement was "You are going to crack your foundation and flood this room!"

Sorry I can't give you direct experience with the HSU, but I will not be returning this +2.
Joe
