I don't know about the series' progression.

The first season IMHO was so good because it was about ordinary people dealing with their newfound powers.

Now it's becoming more like the Justice League or something with superheroes fighting supervillains.

It's only a matter of time before Hiro decides he needs a costume…

First season was good because they had a purpose and a timeline.

Agreed. It was like they were surprised they got renewed and didn't really have a plan for a follow-on season. Very disjointed, fuzzy and contrived plotlines, lots of McGuffin moments, puzzling motivational-shifts in many characters... they deserved all the criticism they got, as they definitely had a lot of fan good-will, momentum and anticipation going into the season. That all dissipated real quick. The question is, did they learn anything from it?

I think the problem with season 2 was that they really hadn't decided how they wanted to continue. When they were first talking about the second season, the idea was to have a completely new cast of heroes, with maybe a few returning from season 1 in order to bridge the show. That way, they could have the same "discovering powers" stuff that worked for season 1.

The problem was that they also realized that they couldn't get away with dropping popular characters like Sylar, Hiro, and Peter. So they got stuck in some failed attempt to have their cake and eat it, too.

Hopefully they have a better idea going into next season of what they really want to do on a year-to-year basis.

He already did. Future Hiro was clearly in a custom. Hair different, clothes different, sword strapped to back and all.

10. Claire's rib-cage exposed in the morgue on Heroes

As the star high school quarterback attempts to rape Claire at a bonfire, she tries to get away but falls on a sharp spike of wood that becomes embedded in her brain. The next time we see Claire is in the morgue. The coroner removes the piece of wood from Claire's head and steps out of the room for a phone call. With her instant healing abilities, Claire awakes. She looks down and is horrified to see that she's on an operating table, and an autopsy is being performed on her body. Claire's chest lay wide open with her bloody rib cage fully exposed. It was a TV moment that was both unexpected and equally stomach turning.


Can't wait for Season 3!

I Can. Your post highlights an important part of what made Season 1 so good. It was dark and edgy and (dare I say it) almost 'adult' in nature. And that's why it attained an immediate cult following. Then the networks, religious fringes, advertisers, whatever, brought pressure to bear on the network and/or Kring, or Kring turned out to be a one-trick-pony who was eventually threatened with the glue factory. The 1st season was expresso. The 2d season was skim milk. I'm thinking that if we're lucky, at best, Season 3 will be chocolate milk, and not much more.

P.S. Well, if you enjoyed the autopsy, you must have just loved her immolation by Ted.
