Can someone tell me what this Samsung DLP problem is called? Pic inside.

Ok, I have no idea what this is called and its making a search on the forum pretty darn hard. See the diagonal lines on 149.278? What is that called? The tv is a Samsung DLP model HL-S5087W. Thanks for any help.

Weird. I have the same set but haven't ever seen anything like that. Are the streaks that obvious when viewing it, or is that from camera shake?

Looks as it's the same issue that Mits has, dust in the optical path. The LE has to be changed out. It's best to post the question in the correwct Sammy forum since there are so many.

The diagonal streaks are very obvious and quite distracting. The vertical streaks are not visible anywhere but in the picture. I took it pretty close to the tv in a mostly dark room with no flash which causes things to not focus perfectly.

The streaks are very close to the dark spots I have on the screen (not on the outside). I'm about to open the portholes on the sides and have a look inside but I dont know what I'm looking for.

I searched for a Samsung forum but couldnt find it. It seems all the Samsung DLP discussion is in the "Rear Projection Units" subforum.

I'd probably be better off getting a new tv before replacing the LE.

There are a half a dozen different "Samsung" forums here depending on year or model.

ah, you must be referring to the various Samsung threads in the rear projection forum. Yeah, I guess I could try the one for this model. Thanks.
