Question regarding HD-A30 working in other countries

Thread Starter
If I have a multi system TV (plays both Pal and NTSC) and then buy a US Toshiba HD-DVD Player (HD-A30) will it be able to play Pal HD-DVDs (discs from Australia & Europe)?

Does anyone have experience in this area?

The US Toshibas do not support PAL and are Region 1 for DVD only. They will play HD DVDs from any country however, for which the old NTSC/PAL formats do not apply. If you want DVD playback, a local player would be a better (albeit more expensive) option, but if you want to primarily play HD DVDs any HD DVD player from any country will do.

What he said.

I use a american HD-A2 for HD-DVD playback of disc from all regions. And use my old Oppo 970 for standard DVD playback.
