Basically, I wouldn't recommend going the HTPC route yet. Once someone has a card that can losslessly output both the audio and video to a receiver, then I would jump in. Until then just go with a Dual format player or buy the cheapest separate devices.

The only reason you shouldn't go with the HTPC route is if you don't already have one, and all you want to do with it is Blu-ray/HD-DVD playback. If you already have one, definitely get the drive. Eventually there will be sound cards or some other interface to get the lossless audio out. And really, it's only an issue if you have an audio amplifier that can accept lossless digital audio.
