1080p possible on 37"?

Im planning on getting an Aquos 37 D62U

Im getting it mainly for my xbox 360. I'll be sitting about 3 - 10 ft away from the screen when playing.

I know a lot of games can't support 1080p but progress is being made and I want to be ready for it. Halo 3 supports 1080p.

Anyways what do you guys think? I guess if I wouldn't notice the difference the real question is, should I get the D62U or the D43U

That one looks cool, I wish sharp would explicitly post on their web site where the items are made though!!!! Have you looked at one of the units to see where they are made??? Please get back at me on that one!

They're manufactured in Japan.

I've read that several of the larger Sharp models will accept 1080p over their component video inputs (and other Sharp owners have discussed this feature the past year on an occasional AVS thread). Perhaps also the 37" models.

JVC also has a two 37" 1080p models this year, one just now coming out [898 series], with Clear Motion Drive II 120hz technology, along with their exclusive 32-bit Genessa processing chip, combined with their own D.I.S.T. [Digital Image Scaling Technology] premium scaler.

For video game use...

JVC is the best - see link here -

This post has a seperate link to a brief visual test posted on the gizmodo website, and JVC beats the Sharp by a hair, with Sony and Toshiba in 3rd/4th (clearly seen in the demo).

yeah, I'm having difficulty finding it as well. I'm wondering if most stores aren't going to bother carrying it.

I was just on Sam's Club (.com) website, and their TV inventory can be dependent on your local store location - they have a new 1080p JVC 37" panel for a discounted price [check the website]. It's not a 120hz model, but excellent none the less, and a nice price.

Notice my words above - "dependent on your area location" - as you have to enter your zip code, choose a store, and THEN see the list of TVs available for either pickup, or delivery only.

Earlier last night when I did this, they had the 37" 1080p model I mentioned above, for my area (Houston TX). It's just been listed within the last few days, as I regularly check their website for new models.

Here's the link - http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/nav...125&pCatg=5883

Keep checking in the weeks/months to come, both on samsclub (.com) and Costco (.com), among others.

Halo 3 does not run at 1080p but as every xbox 360 game it supports upscaling to 1080p (can't comment on how much better that looks), but word on the web is Halo 3 is only 640p upscaled to 720p.

As far as playing your 360 in 1080p, I don't think there is going to be much of a difference as most games will just run at 720p as they can then put more eye candy on the screen and most people will not see the benefits of removing some stuff to make the game run acceptable at 1080p.

I will admit though 1080p is a nice feature to have if you plan on using the TV for a long time with HD movies in the pipe, whatever xbox720 in the future, displaying 1080i sources and using it as a computer monitor.
