Not that I know of.

I have a DIRECTV AM21N Off-Air Dual Tuner to pick up the local OTA signals. Yesterday, the local OTA channels disappeared from my lineup. I went thru the setup again on the Satellite/Antenna. Now it only lists a few of the local OTA signals in the guide and not the entire DMA's signals. I have tried inputting different zip codes for my DMA and it still won't list all of them.

Any suggestions to get all of them listed again?

I see there was some sort of upgrade yesterday. Did that mess it up?

Thanks

Have you done the usual reset yet? That's always the 1st thing to try.

I think I have read similar complaints on DBSTalk.com, I suggest you go over there and look around.

Well my HR23-700 died on Sunday. I had it for more than 2 years. If I go through a Directv dealer, can they get me another DVR for 200.00 on a 2 year commitment? As well, can they just record the information online to Directv about my dead HR23-700 so they dont actually have to return it? I hear Directv doesnt want the dead receivers back anymore.

If you're out of contract, I would ask for a new DVR, with minimal or no upfront fees.

Why should you pay hundreds on a leased piece of equipment, so you can pay for their expensive service?

Threaten to go to cable or Dish and be prepared to follow through with it.

If it's a leased box that died then they will replace it, even if you're not in a commitment, for a $20 shipping charge and the start of a new 2 year commitment. If you have the protection plan then they would replace it for free and it would not start a new commitment.

AFAIK, they are still recovering HR23's, so they would want it back.

Sorry this isn't right either.

If his HR23 was leased DirecTV will replace it for free, and it will not trigger a new 2 year commitment. It may cost him $20 in shipping if he doesn't have the protection plan, but a lot of the time you can get that waived to if you ask.

As far as having to send it back, yes if his HR23 is leased they will want it back. They recently stopped wanting the HR20's back, but I'm fairly certain everything newer than that is still to be sent back.

If his HR23 is owned (very unlikely) then it will be replaced for free also (with a possible $20 shipping cost). If he has the protection plan it would be replace for free with another owned HD-DVR and no commitment. If he doesn't have the protection plan it will be replaced with a leased receiver for free (I think that does come with a new 2 year commitment but I'm not 100% sure on that).

Yep, mixing up owned vs. leased replacement commitments.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I got it from a dealer more than 2 years ago.

Any Genie users?

I’m leaving Dish after 7 years and need to find my best options.

1. A Genie (HR34) for my main viewing, and a HR24 for my bedroom.
2. Use a HR24 in both rooms.

I can’t use the mini Genie because my older HD plasma doesn’t have a HDMI input. I have to use component out..

I know the HR44 is coming out later this month, but I can’t wait, and I also want all of the early bugs taken care of before I take that plunge.

Thanks.

The Genie mini clients can support component video connections, there's an adapter cable that provides the connection.

I'd still go with option #1

Correct, & there is also a composite A/V adapter cable available as well...

I was just curious has anyone here been with D* for 20 yrs and if that's even possible. I just read on another thread someone said they had been with them for over 20 yrs. Now AFAIK I've only been with them since 97 because prior to that they were called Prime star when I started with them in 96 so that's only 15 yrs.

Just because you got it from a dealer does not mean it's owned. you need to check your account and see how it's listed. regardless they will replace it at low or no cost.

I've been with them since the summer of 1995, and I do not recall a change of name for them during my time with them.

You triggered my curiosity to look up their history, and Wikipedia says they launched their sat service in June, 1994.

Primestar was a different beast that was bought up by DirecTV. So, it's possible to have spent more than 20 years with the "same provider" though that provider was bought, the equipment changed and billing statements started coming from a different place. wink.gif I remember searching around for old Primestar dishes and LNBs for FTA use, back in the day.

You're our flipping hero man,..I will def give your approach a try when my 2 yr is up in July. I've done what you do more or less but usually they will only give me a a free HD dvr upgrade like 2 yrs ago I got the HR24 but that's it no cash or credits like the 200 visa and $20 credits ea month. What's really interesting to me is that you only asked them what can they offer you to stick around. I always have to play the bluff card that I will jump ship to cable and that only gets a DVR upgrade. I don't see them doing jack crap if I ask them that, it's going to lead to threatening to cancel again which after a while it's like the boy calling wolf and they know I'm not really serious.

I hope others like hamstang post their success like that here so that us long timers can get something back once in a while.

I think the $200 Visa gift cards are the norm these days, as TWC also offered the same plus more if I would come back to them.

True; I'm STILL getting an e-mail every week from D* since last fall, with the very SAME offer if I would come back to them - also, the offer is for an up to $200 card, depending on how much your current provider charges you for an ETF. (ie: if you only get an ETF of $150, then that's all you'll get the gift card for)
It also comes with some BS that you have to go through to get that up to $200 as well. (another rebate form along with your original final bill w/the ETF on it, from your current provider)
Sorry, but ain't NO way I would go through all that w/D* (or even E* for that matter) & take the chance that AFTER I actually went through the hassle of switching (back), that they find some BS reason for NOT then giving the card... rolleyes.gif

Yes but you see they only pull out all the stop only because you "did" jump ship and they're trying to lure you back. The existing folks they really don't care.

don't old primestar subs still no mirroring, leasing, rent or outlet fees?

If u are middle of contract them how do they penalty u ? Would u verse be able to pick up the tab?
$20 for each month remaining on the 2 year commitment and you would have to ask u verse about picking up the tab.

There are a lot of hoops you have to jump through to get that $200 gift card, like you said. You have to be on time on your bill for 90 days with TWC and then they'll send you the gift card in the mail.

I'm thinking of moving my subscription with Directv to Western NY(Buffalo). Does anyone know if I would get the Yankees on YES without having to sub to MLB EI?
