What feature are you talking about? Not clear from posts. Thanks!

If you are an existing customer and are replacing a DVR you already have, then your monthly fee won't change, assuming you already pay the $3 whole home fee.
$25!!! eek.gifeek.gifeek.gif I was thinking about going back to D*, yeah maybe not. Looks like I might have to do some negotiating.

How do you execute once it's activated?

If you're asking about 30skip you just hit the little button above FF to jump 30 seconds. The same button on the left above REW jumps you back 6 seconds.

My two year contract was up over the weekend, and yesterday I was offered a free upgrade to a Genie by DirecTV.

I was billed $23 in monthly fees (HD, DVR, Whole Home), but was getting a $10 auto-pay credit every month.

I was able to talk them into an additional $10 credit for 24 months, as well as a GenieGo.

I havent done a lot of D* on demand watching but I decided to catch up with Orphan Black. They have the first 2 episodes then the season finale. Also they are not in HD unless I dont have something set up right. But remembering back I had to watch an NCIS eppy this season on demand and it wasnt HD either and a good wife episode. Is that the norm? Also why doesnt D* have all the episodes of Orphan Black??

Unfortunately, OnDemand is at the mercy of what the channels provide - and most of it is SD.

If you wait long enough, BBCA will probably do a marathon of all the episodes at some point.

Just a reminder in case anyone missed the emails or messages, but free previews of HBO, Cinemax and Starz this weekend June 14th-17th. I believe next week is the free preview for Showtime.

They should offer a free preview for Playboy, Penthouse or Hustler once in a while too.

My HR24 DVR is soooooooooo slooooooooowwwwww

I 2nd that. My Genie is painfully slow at times and amazingly fast other times. I don't get it.

The slow times are when the NSA is spying on you to find out what you're watching...

...or it could just be a guide refresh. I get those two confused.... wink.gif

How much is stored on your hard drive. As for hustling, that is what Pay to watch services do to us, so that they can get more money out of us every six to twelve months.

Depends on how many active streams are going on in the house, how many recordings or time shifting from active streams, also how much is stored for recordings on your hard drive.

The free stuff doesn't come close the amazing quality classy productions of Hustler and Playboy. Big diff, no comparison at all...for me at least wink.gif

Once you sample Hustler, you don't want to see nothing else

Well, this sucks but it's not surprising. A couple of years ago I switched from TWC back to D* JUST because it offered 3D (just got a new shiny 3D TV at the time!). Anyway, I watched 3D several times and really enjoyed the Thursday night football games being broadcasted in 3D, but then last year I couldn't find them anymore. Ever since the first year, ESPN 3D has just been showing repeats. No wonder it failed.

LOL. It's the first time I ever heard Hustler referred to as classy.

Did D* carry Playboy HD at one time? I think I remember a major screw up involving Plaboy HD being broadcasted on TNT-HD.
It was actually Spice HD, & it (HD feed) was ONLY part-time...

I'm pretty sure the Playboy channel has been accidentally broadcast on just about every 24 hour channel at some point or another.

What do you think overnight master control operators do to entertain themselves?

The takeaway is always the same, though: don't put anything in preset on your switcher you don't want to take to air.... wink.gif

Has anyone had any luck getting the Red Zone channel free from D* yet? I called and was told they no longer offer that promotion. I will call again but I want to make sure that my constant calling has the possibility of getting what I want.

Thanks

Have you gotten it free before? I wait till closer to the start of the season and call to "cancel" to get to retention, then note that I got it the year before, that I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee for it alone, that my other TV options carry it (Cox, Fios), and may I have it again, please? Has worked three years running.

DirecTV has more macroblocking recently in a few channels.

Is this from the source or DirecTV's compression due to all the new HD channels?

It has been that way for a while. It is DirecTV doing it, due to comparing them to U-Verse or Comcast, the only ones locally I can vouch for that is bad on all three, is the local CBS affiliate, ESPN is another that is really bad for pixeling and macroblocking.

I had it for free this past season

I'd wait till at least mid-August, then call retention and ask for it then (and note that other carriers in you area have it; I think this is the magic phrase that allows them to give it to you as a stand-alone channel).
