I think that's our biggest problem today in society - all the way up to government.
The internet (mainly social networking and targeted content) has allowed us to only have to surround ourselves with content and people that agree with exactly the same things we do - and that means we don't know how to politely disagree with others.
We also seem to have lost the ability to negotiate and compromise. We get into two freight trains and run them at each other on the same track, hoping the other guy swerves.
Further, it means people will believe anything that fits in with their beliefs, regardless of how wrong. It amazes me the amount of stuff people think is true because "they heard about it on the internet".
I may not always be right, but I don't mind being corrected - - - politely. Too often, though, people take mistakes as an invitation to call you an idiot.
