I've got a fresh install of MCE2005 and I have applied all the updates for xp and media center using windows update. I am running a SoundBlaster audigy 2 card (older). I've installed the latest full version of the k-lite codec pack and the 223 version of purevideo dvd decoder.
My problem is with ac3 passthrough. MCE will passthrough DTS/DD fine with DVD's until I play an AVI with DTS/DD. Once I do this DVD's will only play with 2 channel stereo until I run the MCE speaker setup wizard again. Then the dvd's will play with DTS/DD.
I do NOT have this problem on my other MCE computers. They are running the same version with updates of MCE but they are running different soundcards. One is the built in 7.1 sound card on the asus motherboard and the other is another version of the SB audigy card. Is this a sound card issue? If so I'll go buy a replacement. Recommendations? If not is there a software fix. I've searched and can't find a definitive answer to this.
Another thing I noticed in MCE is if I am playing an AVI with AC3 and press stop and then click enter on the resume option the audio is in 2ch/stereo. If I stop and press the PLAY button the audio is DD. Weird...
thanks,
Brendin
