Do the VGA cables looks better then the hd cables?

depends on YOUR tv. You really need to just try it yourself. There are mixed results. I have 3 hdtv's. On my plasma, component looks best, on my lcd, VGA is best and component looks horrible and washed out. Go figure.

I do recommend getting the MS official vga cable though.

I got the official MS VGA and it's great for me.

My older AV system does not have HDMI and only one optical input, so far my VGA works great on my Toshiba 57" DLP I bought back in june. I would have to buy both the Elite AND a new AV to use full HDMI and that a bit pricy but I will soon.

VGA is my only option for 1080P with my hd-dvd add-on. i had only use dmy component cables for a week when i first bought it so i cant really compare otherwise but i love the way it looks over vga at 1080p

As long as it takes an analog signal as vga is analog. so you need a DVI-A (analog) or DVI-I (Analog & Digital) port. Most newer set should have DVI-I so it should be capable ot converting to dvi.

check out for more info on which port you might have. ramelectronics.net/html/DVI_info.html

Yes, it depends on your set and model. I have a DLP and VGA looks much better then component.

Hey Americans, do you love your country? If so, support and buy American products. In case you don't know, Apple and MS are American companies; Sony is not.

I have the same question. Can you answer how this is done? I have on my set DVI. All I can seem to find is VGA cables. Why does Microsoft not make a HDMI for the fat plug 360's. Also xbox component cables packaging states it supports 1080p. Thats a lie cant be done.
How do I connect the VGA to DVI?

The 360 supports 1080p over component for games only, not DVDs or HD-DVDs.

They can't make an HDMI cable for the older Xbox's I think because of HDMI rules that the connection must be built into the system directly, and cannot be an add on.

The xbox component cables do support 1080p so its not a lie. The majority of tv's however do not accept 1080p over component due due ICT regulations, but only games and whatnot will be 1080p hd-dvd's through the add on will only be 1080i due to the ICT's.

And you nee to get yourself a VGA to DVI Adapter.

I just read that HDMI regulation or something.
But problem. I never knew component to support 1080p? Also what 1080p sets will accept 1080p over component? Most are HDMI or VGA, DVI.
My set doesn't have VGA. Only HDMI component and DVI-D. Component will support up to 108i on these inputs.

Others have said it...but I'll just reiterate...depends entirely on the TV. I used to have a 2004 Samsung DLP and the VGA cables were a big improvement. I've recently moved up to a vastly superior 50" Pioneer KURO plasma and the image quality was very comparable. However, I couldn't make as many picture adjustments on the Pioneer when in PC mode so I'm back to the HD cables with my new TV.
