Im going to buy an Aquos 37" D62U tomorrow. I was just wondering if I should buy the extended warranty, 2 years for 239.99

For those who bought extended warranty, was it ever put to use?

I bought a 3 year Mack warranty for $110 for my LC-46D82U.... Just got the TV 3 weeks ago so I've never had to use the warranty....

They usually go unused. That's how they make a profit from them. If they were all used, they would quit offering them.

The general consensus is that if you get past the 1 year Manufacturers warranty you should be good to go for years following.

For some the price of piece of mind and the cheaper avsforum warranty (search for the thread)...may be worth the price.

If I was buying a plasma I would consider the warranty a must have....they have more complex electronics, spinning fans in many...etc etc. The more or less bullet proof nature of LCDs is one of the reason I prefer them

I just bought a 37" last week and also picked up the 2 year warranty for $89.

Why? Piece of Mind, no more, no less.

I feel after two years, I will have got my moneys worth.

$239 seems a bit high though.
