Rockets for Den?

What do you think of a pair of RS250 MkII's and an RSC 200 for a den about 10 x 15. I have a full on home theater for serious stuff. Is this too little? Too much?
I'll power it with a JVC reciever at 75 WPC all driven. Are these quality peices?
I have B&W 600 series in my theater for comparison

Bel Canto EVO 6 gen II
Bel Canto EVO 4 gen II
Emotiva DMC-1
B&W 605 s2
B&W LSC600 s3
B&W 602s3

I do not know about the JVC receiver, it might be a little too low in wattage, but the room is small, so you will probably be cool.

I think you will be quite happy with that setup, have you thought about doing 450s instead of the 250s? For only $100 more it seems a no brainer...a good set of stands is that much.

Thats a very good point. I do like the idea of having the ease of set up for this room though as I'd probably pull them out under my awning for parties. If I'd seen and thought about it I'd have probably talked myself into another set of floor standers.

Two potential issues I can think of.

1. These Rockets are HEAVY, pretty much industrial stength, HT equipment. Powering them with a 75RMS JVC is not advisable.

2. . These Rockets are HEAVY, pretty much industrial stength, HT equipment. Moving them around is not advisable

On the plus side, their tweeters are sliky smooth to extremely loud levels, so you'll have no problem powering a backyard dance party with them

How would a Yamaha RX-V995 which is 100w x 5 do with the Rocket 450s?

I think it will be fine, unless you like to really crank it up, then I would add an amp. I have a Yamaha RXV-757 hooked up to mine untill I got a Emotiva LPA-1 amp.

I had the Yamaha V2500 powering my Rocket 760s for a bit, I added 200W amps and for me there was a substantial difference even at low listening levels. Reference levels need more power but even at moderate levels, the speakers just seem to come alive.

My rockets were good with the V2500 but they were great with the separate amp.

The Yamana RXV-995 is a nice heavy receiver and powered my Rocket's fine.

I guess the next question is, will I be content with the 450s?

As for me, i can always power them with my extra channels on my Bel Canto and program them as zone 2 on my Emotiva DMC-1. 120WPC...
I ordered them so I'll let you know

Actually went and re-read my JVC's specs: 120 RMS into 8ohms stereo and 100/channel RMS surround into 8 ohms (doesn't sat all channels driven but I'll only be using 3 so) And since the Rockets are 6 ohms it should push to the high side and not be power transformer limited... i think?

How heavy is the JVC? Thats your best indication of how large your transformer is.

The Rockets are not efficient speakers, so you need a decent transformer in that receiver....
