Anybody using a HD-A2 player with this? The player does 720p/1080i so I'm thinking which would give me the better picture overall (??). Research tells me to stick to 720p on the player as thats the PJ native res but people say 1080i is better (??)

the dynamic sharpness feature is supposed to enhance the sharpness around brighter areas of the picture. It creates a more natural look compared to some of the more uniformly sharp pj's that i've seen (especially epsons which look kind of harsh, and mitsubishi's which are sharp, but aren't harsh enough, i guess that sounds weird, but their picture seams weak to me). I gotta tell you though, i've had this thing a week, and you'll never notice any of this tech because you'll just be so damn pleased with the image. when people say this is a virtual 1080p projector, they mean it. no other 720p projector has received that compliment.

That's straight from Panny and I'm going to hold them to it. I am replying and asking where/how do I get these forms or promotion warranty. I'll ring back in when/if they reply.

I sent you a PM. I would love to get a copy of that email for my records. This is the first time I've seen 4000 hours mentioned!

Thanks for the info Mark. Hopefully you will get an hd source hooked up soon so you can comment on the sharpness issue. And any more head to head impressions are much appreciated.

The AX200 is an absolutely fantastic PJ, for the money.

I've just finished revisiting 6 HD titles and I'm totally blown away at the quality of the image on my 110" (16x9) Perm-Wall Screen in my dedicated HT room. This is the 4th. PJ I've actually owned. I also once had a VW50 for a couple of weeks, I took it back because I thought it was kind of "soft" for the $$$.

If you're budget is $1200, you'd have a difficult time finding anything wrong with the new Pany AX200. Lots of guts for the bucks.

Most have found that the 1080i setting in the HD-1 0R 2 gives the best pic.I would like to see is the new hd-30 that does 1080p 24fps will do since the ax200 excepts 1080p 24fps/BOB

I was feeding the AX-200 with the new HD-A30, first in the 1080P and then in the 1080p/24 mode.

With my Sony 50 inch sxrd rptv I found that 720 looked somehow better over all. Seemed better in moving shots. I can't actually describe it...I will hopefully begin playing with this new panny Saturday and will hook up the A2...

I think it's a shame that the rebate form, the post on Panny's site, and the email directly from Panny support contradict each other!

Does anyone have a projector mount recommendation for the ax200u? I just ordered mine and realized that I donot know whichmount toget. Any suggestions for a good mount?

I am seriously considering this projector to replace my IF SP4805. I have a total dark room, 106" diag screen (Behr SS paint), and pj is ceiling mounted. Mostly I watch DVD , and plan to upgrade to HD-DVD/Bluray soon. I want this instead of a pricier 1080p PJ for the time being. Affordable at $1300 price point for me.

Since the 4805 was my only PJ, I feel I can improve in 2 main areas. Reduce Screendoor effect at my sitting distance, and also improve black levels.

1) I know the SDE is gone in this PJ, but wonder if the black levels would be an improvement over the 4805. Can anyone comment on that?

2) Can someone comment on whether I can expect same 3d-like image in this PJ compared to the 4805?

3) What 'issues' can I expect from LCD projectors, as I have never owned one. I know rainbow is not an issue, but are there other visual things inherent to LCD technology that I need to be aware of? Banding I hear of?

Thanks. I need some info before I purchase, and I really trust information from the more experienced folks here that have owned multiple pJs.

Also, a question about Lens Shift:

Is it done digitally, or optically? If it is done digitally, I assume that when you shift the image to the right, you will have 'black' projected imagery on the left of the screen. Which in my experience is never trully black (rather, grey), and is distracting.

Can someone clarify this for me, as it would be a deal breaker.

The AX200's lens shift is done optically. It is manipulated using a joystick on the front of the unit.

Awesome. Is it done mechanically, or is there a micro servo that moves the lens? i.e., is it like manual side mirrors on cars, or like electrical mirrors?

Manually. Quite easy to do.

Please report back with impressions, since I also plan to upgrade from IF 4805.

I am also a previous Infocus SP 4805 owner. Any PS3 owners out there that have this projector yet? Would like to hear your thoughts and impressions, and possibly pics. My trigger finger is itching badly.

Most are white so thay blend in with the ceiling.
