Both are good machines however Rega is the O.E.M. supplier of tonearms to a number of manufacturers so I would say that it probably has a better tonearm. The P1 uses the RB 100 tonearm which looks like a slightly simpler version of the RB 250 that was used on the P2 and I believe the NAD turntable as well. I have a Rega P3 and like it a lot.
