REALLY NEED help, Black material behind screen??!?

I can't thank all you guys enough, you have done so much for me, and i personally thank each and every person who replies to my posts, i appreciate it so much. but on to the question!!!

i have a panoview graywolf II for my projector screen. the wall behind my screen is white, and i want to cover it with a black material, possibly a cloth or a carpet. i don't really want to paint, and i don't have much money to spend so i can't buy any fancy type of material, i just want something to dampen the white around my screen.

is there a specific type of material i should be looking for or will any black cloth material do?

once again you guys so much, you have no idea how much this means to me

Out of curiosity, why don't you want to paint it? I would think that paint would be the most economical solution since money is a factor here. Black paint covers any color very easily. You could also take some inexpensive casing moulding and frame a rectangle slightly larger than the screen leaving several inches between the inside of the casing and the screen. Then paint it black and the area between the casing and the screen black. Depending on your skills, that's a fairly easy way to add a nice finished touch and to create a nice, straight rectangle fairly easily (assuming you have a mitre saw- either manual or power). If you go with fabric I would think it would be difficult to keep the lines straight and parallel with your screen.

I don't know anything about your screen.....but I used duvetyne aka "commando cloth" behind my flat fixed mounted screen.

Here's an example:

You can put either term in the search engine and shop for price.

For $30 you could pick up a roll of dark landscape fabric. It's a little porous so maybe a couple of layers.

The whole screen wall should be treated w/linacoustic and then covered with the acoustically transparent fabric. The GOM makes many different fabrics which you can use for this purpose.

I second the flat black paint idea. Works great.

Paint is the way to go.
