Great, a follow up question. I am seriously considering just getting the M60 towers and no CC. I will just toe them in a little. I will always sit in the middle and nobody that will ever be in my HT will notice the difference. Do their towers image well?

QS8's are very forgiving. In my old living room, I had them next to my couch (either end) and they sounded great. In the new living room, I have them back about 6-8' behind my couch. They still envelope the room with surround sound.

The QS8's are mated with M80 and VP180 centers.

Upstairs, I'm using the wall mountable M22's w/o a center channel. As far as I can tell, it works just fine. So I imagine using M80's with a phantom center will work just as well.

Axiom Owners!

So, I moved into an apartment, and found two Axiom M3 speakers in the living room. I finally got a receiver and hooked them up last night. They sound good, but I'm going to need a center (at least)..

My question is this:

Since these Axiom's arent technically "mine", should I go ahead and order a VP100 anyways, and if M3's some day go away, I can just start over and either sell the VP100 or keep it for another room later in my life?

Thoughts? Should I maybe just buy a center that I can voice-match later if I don't choose to go with Axiom?

Finally doing some upgrades to my system. Ordered a VP160 and QS8 to replace my vp100 and qs4's. Should be a big upgrade.

Current system outlook.
Axiom M60's
VP160 center(arriving shortly)
QS8 surrounds(arriving shortly)
SVS PB13 Ultra and HSU VTF2MK4 subs.

Cant wait for them to get here. I wonder if the qs4s could be my surround backs and work okay?
Your QS4s would be perfect as rear surrounds.
I bet that VP160 will sound great with the M60's.

If your receiver supports it, use them as height speakers. I'm using my 150 (when I got my VP180) as one surround back speaker. I don't know that it adds too much value as compared to surrounds. But I have it, so I'll continue to use it for now.

Whats a good one to use as a front height speaker...M0?

Great questions. Audyssey says direct firing speakers work best, but folks on Axiom forum think the QS series works better. Since "height" sounds are supposed to be enveloping, that makes sense to me.

I'm using a pair of QS8v3 as Height speakers for Dolby PLIIz and they are fantastic. I suppose that it should be the case for Audyssey as well.

I know this post is bit old now, but I went with the M0s for front heights and M2s for side and rear surrounds.

Hi,
2012 will be the first year that Axiom will participate at the SSI (Salon Son & Image) Montréal HI-Fi Show in Québec. Axiom will share a large suite (Verdun) with Bryston.

Axiom will introduce a new flagship speaker tower model which differs from its current line up in a few ways. It will make wave . . .

The "Salon Son & Image" is a major event which you can read more about : http://www.salonsonimage.com/EN/index.html

The link to the blog does not work...says Nothing Found.

Exciting news, though!
Thanks Cibrsage,
Very weird . . . even if it is identical when I paste & copy the link in the creating message box once posted it deletes the word theater and the first letters of the word speaker replacing them with ...

The only way I could post the link was the way I wrote my correction.

Thanks again !

Too bad it won't be able to sound better than the M80 since that almost impossible to make a better speaker than the M80, according to Axiom so it will only be similarily good, plus the extra cost is for cosmetics since Axiom has said if it costs more than the M80s its mostly just looks.

I think you completely missed gtpsuper24's point. He was being facetious since he is not an axiom fan.

I stuck my 150 on the back wall as surround rear (6.1 setup). I don't think surround backs make that much difference, but since I had it, I'm using it.

You're right - they know this through their own "creative interpretation" and use of DBT's!

Audio miracle? Now you sound like a BO$E salesman. I certainly hope Axiom doesn't turn into a company like that....
They have preached over and over about how the M80 can't be beat and their "DBT" have proved it, with their own staff. They have said that anything more expensive than the M80 doesn't sound better the extra cost is for cosmetics, not and improvement in sound quality. So why is Axiom making a new highend speaker? I thought they said the M80 is as good as it gets.

Hi gtpsuper24,
I'm guessing that it is especially for people like you !
I'm just stating what Axiom has preached over and over as well as their fanboys. "You just can't beat Axiom at any price only match them" Anything more expensive is cosmetic upgrades, yada yada.

I have a pair of M22s, VP150, and two pair of M2s and they are all sitting in a corner collecting dust. I actually went with cheaper speaker than the Axioms and they are better built, better drivers, better designed Xovers, and just sound so much better. Not the frail whimpy sound of the Axioms.
Why so much hate for Axiom? I am looking at buying some speakers and they were at the top of my list....wondering why they seem to be getting hammered as of late.

FWIW I'm looking at Energy RC70, Mirage OMD-15, Axiom M-60 or Ascend CMT130. (my issue with the Ascend though is that they are VERY ugly. I know I know....can't judge a speaker by it's looks....but being in the living room which is kind of formal....they will look HORRIBLE......

I like a detailed sound....not warm sound....warm bores me a little bit. They will be powered by an Onkyo 809.

Hi gtpsuper24,

I'm happy for you that you could find something that better serves your taste at a lower price. Audio taste differs from one person to the other which explains the existence of hundred of audio speaker brands.

Have you considered giving your Axiom speakers to a charitable organization; I'm sure that their sound would please many even if it was not the case for you.

Hi NewToHT,

Unfortunately, badmouthing a quality product or company, is a disease/sickness which is not exclusive to audio speaker brands; it is present on most public Forums.

I am also amazed at why some individuals are wasting their energy and mostly wasting readers' time badmouthing one brand or another instead of praising what they prefer. It would make reading Forums much more pleasant and useful.

If, for any reasons, your Axiom speakers do not meet or even exceed your expectations you can send them back for a full refund; you have a 30 day window which can be extended. Your only responsability is sending them back in their original condition at your expense. Axiom provides discounted prepaid shipping labels to minimize your risk.

It makes you question why someone would have Axiom speakers collecting dust . . .

Off topic, but you asked. There are those who feel some of Axiom's designs do not follow currently accepted science and are therefore unacceptable. Most of the criticism has been directed at the T W W W T driver layout of the VP150. Axiom has recently introduced the VP160 which has a more traditional W T/M T driver configuration. It has the same drivers as the M60 and was designed to compliment it.

Then there are those who joined the axiom forum, behaved badly, got slapped down by forum members, lost their temper, and have gone on vindictive campaigns, posting insults in nearly any thread referencing Axiom, in order to smear the company and forum members, on several internet audio forums.

Regrettably, this is not an isolated phenomenon. As a nearly 9 year veteran of internet audio forums, I have seen a number of these smear campaigns perpetrated, for good reason or for bad, by those who got ticked off. Often, but not always, the treatment they received was their own fault.

Back on topic, Axioms are definitely a "detailed" sound. Proponents would call them "forward" or "accurate." Detractors would call them "bright" or "harsh." Both are subjective opinions and the only opinion that matters is YOURS. There are many satisfied Axiom owners.

Disclaimer: I formerly owned M60s, VP150, and QS8s. I was gifted an audio setup which replaced the Axioms. The Axioms now reside, and are performing splendidly, in my brother's home. I currently own and enjoy an EP500 subwoofer with which I am completely satisfied.
