I have M80s in mine and its 13x16. I have the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra playing right now pretty loud

Howdy people, I am thinking about possibly upgrading from my current front 3 speakers which include Polk RTi10's & CSi5 center to the Axiom M80 V2 & the soon to be released VP180 center. with the exception of the not yet released center can you give my your thoughts on the Front L & R and perhaps my current center to the VP150. of course should i go with axiom the VP180 would be my center.

no, i have never heard axiom speakers, but 3 years ago i never heard any polks but chose them based on user & pro reviews and I loved them but i want to step my front 3 up a bit and not break my bank (got a kid in college) and I think the axioms i listed will do the trick for me, I'll be powering them with an XPA-5 via my PR-SC5507P pre-amp. here is a link to my current gear gallery: http://www.blu-ray.com/community/gal...ber=solarrdadd this should give you an idea of what i have and how it's setup. i am very happy with everything, it's just that again, i want to step up my front 3 and i am liking the axiom and of course i really like the 30 day return policy.

Check on Axiom's forums for folks local to you for a demo. Going by online reviews is never a good idea when buying speakers. I could tell the chocolate ice cream I just ate is the best ever. Of course if you do not like chocolate ice cream, your opinion would be very different.

thanks dewd, you know, i'm not as demanding as some, not as critical. i think reviews by owners and pros is important but, i will also say if i have the chance to listen to a pair, i will before making a choice to buy. the other good thing is i'll have 30 days to listen to them in my home if i do buy. despite the fact that i might listen to them in someone elses home, they may sound different in mine and of course, they may not be driving them with the power i'll be slamming into these boys. like i said, for all my research, those polks have served me well. i did find a user with some M80's (don't know what version yet I'm only interested in the V2's) but that person is a couple of hours away and about almost 4+ hrs round trip and i really don't like driving unless i have to!

I will of course give it some thought to reaching out to that user. I would still like to hear some other folks online who own them. i have read some very good pro reviews on them and for me, that's a plus. i look at it as the pro reviewer has better grade of equipment than most when testing these speakers (and other gear) and really dig out things that most of us cant without that kind of gear. i respect both the pros & the avg joe's on what they have to say.

i am so far having the same good feeling about the axioms as i did about the polks and remember, i couldn't just send the polks back 3 years ago without losing at least 15 - 20% on the restocking fees plus the shipping both ways!

Yes Brent at Axiom said I could go ahead and order custom finish VP-180. I want to finish paying off my QS8s first though

Yup, the VP180 has the same drivers as the M80 only designed for horizontal placement and as, Josh pointed out, it is preselling now and a few have been shipped. They will be shown on the website when Axiom is ready for it to go public, although I think it already is . Some pics can be found on Axiom's forum there are a couple of threads there where the first purchaser posted pics of his.

I am looking for some either On-Wall or Bookshelf Axiom's for my Heights in my Home Theater remodel. I will be using M80's as mains. What are the smallest acceptable pairing with the M80's for thsi purpose?

Hi Josh, IMO any of the bookshelf or on/in wall speakers will do fine as heights for the M80s. Everything coming out of the height speakers is ambient so there is no panning or directly shared audio between the heights and the mains.

I’ve tried both M22s and QS8s as height speakers with my M80s and found I greatly prefer the QS8s again because the audio information coming from the height channels is ambient (echoes, rain, wind, etc…) which is better spread around the room by the QS series design. I imagine the QS4s would work just as well since they don’t have to play that loud. I also prefer the QS8s because to get the proper angle off center for the speaker placement I had to put the height speakers on the side walls rather than the front wall but even when I tried front wall placement I still preferred the QS8s to the M22.

OTOH if you ever install wide speakers the M22s are the perfect match for the M80s in that role.

I am about to join the Axiom owners club. Bought a used set consisting of M22ti, QS8 and vp150. It will be powered by Emotiva MMC-1, XPA-5 combo and an SVS sub. Looking forward to picking these up tomorrow.

Watched our first movie last night ( The book of Eli) with the Axiom setup, definetly impressed!! Especially the QS-8's, wow the rear soundstage is huge and active! I previously had Monitor Audio silver SFX and I like the Axioms better. Maybe it's the "quad" design that makes the difference, but I like it
For a 5.0 system that was the price of most HTIB ($500 used) I am genuenly impressed!

i placed an order two days ago for a pair of M80v2 towers and the new
VP180v3 center. i should have them next week. i will throw up some pictures and a review after i get them. I also already have a buyer, cash in hand for my existing Polk front 3 so things are really looking up for me.

Is a V3 version of the M22s coming out? Saw a reference to it on another forum, and would like to verify. Anyone heard of it?

M60s, EP500, VP150 & QS8s

These are truly jaw dropping speakers. The detail and clarity drops the jaws of everyone I show them off to. Well above average customer service as well.

Yes, almost every model is v3 now. It shows up as v3 if you use the drop down menus. They still show v2 in the main products page but once you select a model each individual speaker page is updated with v3. Guess they haven't updated the main product page yet.

So What improvements do the V3s bring in compared to the V2s?

According to Axiom:

Version 3 brings some major improvements to the sound quality of every model along with cosmetic changes to update the look. The changes that affect the performance of the products began being incorporated about one year ago (longer for some of the woofers) and were completed on all models a few months ago. As of a few weeks ago the cosmetic changes were incorporated into our manufacturing and today our website will change to reflect these changes.

The main cosmetic changes are the all-aluminum dust caps, which are now made from the same material as our cones, and the elimination of the grille pins with the introduction of magnet grilles.

As for changes to the performance we have redesigned our tweeter, all of our crossovers, and most of our woofers. The best way to describe the difference in performance may be to simply quote from an e-mail we received from a customer who has moved from Version 2 to Version 3 M80s.

according to Noreen over at Axiom, my order will ship next week. I was also told that all 3 speakers will be the newer V3 type. I ordered:

1 pair of M80v3 towers
1 VP180v3 center

I can't wait until i get that email with the tracking information. If i get them before Friday evening, I promise to put up a review and some pictures before i go away for the holiday weekend. If not, I'll post that up when i get back on Monday night or so.

so far, the new center has been getting incredbly good ratings, all positive too. thus far not one person said anything bad and no one has yet mentioned returning it because it wasn't what it's been advertised or talked up to being!
