is there any Blue-ray or HD player capable to play region free (PAL and NTSC discs)?

hi all
is there any Blue ray or HD player out that can play DVD-R,DVD-RW,DIVX,or standard DVD all region DVD dics ?

I had PS3 (NTSC) but sold it because it could not play my standard DVD`s from europe,and it also could not play any DVD-RW discs (and i have over 30 movies on DVD`s) i bought in europe ?

I was surprised when i discovered that any blue ray or HD player i tryed could not play any of my all region DVD`s due they are PAL region (but also region free 0)

is it true that samsung BD-UP5000 will be able to play all this discs?

sorry for my english but i would also know what is the point of release region free discs if they are not able to play on diferent region (pal/NTSC) players?
(Im talking here only about STANDARD DVD`s that i want to play in Blue-ray or HD players.)
I have over 20 movies (all region free) but they were bought in europe (PAL).
PS3 (NTSC), Sony Bdp-300 (NTSC) and toshiba HD-XA2 (NTSC) wont play them because they are PAL (but also region free !! )

Not sure if any release will allow you to do what you want. You may need to keep a cheap region free DVD player for those needs. As far as I know there have been no announcements for a "region free" player that supports Blu-ray or HD DVD.

HD DVDs are region free, though not PAL/NTSC free so as long as a HD DVD is NTSC you can import it from anywhere in the world and it'll play here in the STates.

There're separate but related issues: region coding (R0 etc.) and the commonly referred to PAL (50Hz) and NTSC (60Hz) territories. Your specific problem isn't region coding but PAL SD DVD playback on North American ("NTSC") machines.

None of the North American HD DVD or BD players so far support PAL SD DVDs whatever the region coding is. European and Asian players support both PAL and NTSC.

Apparently the following European BD models have been modded for region-free DVD support:
Samsung BDP1000
Panasonic DMP-BD10
Panasonic DMP-BD10A

This thread sums up the recent situation w.r.t. the Toshiba.
