HD-A1 Can't Get Audio thru HDMI and Video Thru Component!

I can get audio via HDMI from the A1 if I select HDMI for video, but if I switch to component for video, the audio (via HDMI) goes dead. I've tried all the video out settings on the A1. Multi channel out works with component, so it may be my only option, but I'd really like to have the HDMI audio capability for 6.1 or 7.1.

I use component for video to feed a DVDO VP30 to a NEC 9PGXTRA CRT, so HDMI video is not an option.

My AVR is an Elite 84txsi. I can get video via component and audio via HDMI simultaneously on my Sony S300 BD player, but can't with my HD-A1.

I tried a search to see if this is a known issue with the A1, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure once you select component on the A1, it shuts off HDMI. I could be wrong though as my wife tells me I frequently am.

The A1 only puts out 5.1. I use analog.

Use 5.1 analog out for audio. The HD-A1 does not output HDMI/Component simultaneously like later gen models.

Do all of the later generation players allow simultaneous HDMI and component output?

Sorry. Thanks for not posting RTFM! I really did read it (just not very well, obviously!)

No prob, rtart! The only reason I knew that it was there is that I tried to do the same thing!...

On the HD-A2 I have it working. I use HDMI to my audio reciever and component to my TV. The only trick is if you put in a regular DVD then you have to previously turn down from max of 1080i or you will not get a picture.

Thanks guys! I just bought an A2 from CC for $297 with a $100 gift card back and the 5 free movie offer. Not a bad deal, and gives me a player for upstairs, too.

Do the first generation players still not allow component video and HDMI audio at the same time? I have an HD-D1 (Wal-Mart clone of the HD-A1 except the unit is black) and upgraded my A/V receiver to an Onkyo 805. However, my Mitsubishi Diamond HDTV is Old School and only has component inputs. So much for Mitsubishi promising me that my TV would be future proof or they would convert it for me.

First generation is still one or the other, but not both.

Thanks, I am switching it out with an HD-A2 from another room. The HD-D1 has been a great unit and I like the build quality of it better than the HD-A2 but thats life I guess.
