Looking to buy the PANASONIC TC32LX70, Is it a 14bit panel? LINK inside.

According to this site, it's a 14bit panel which would make it better or as good as the SONY S3000 which has a 10bit panel...

Can someone explain this to me please?

The processer is 14bits, not the panel. The panel is probably 8 bits, like all but the newest high end 10bit panels. VPs should be >= 2 bits more than the panel to avoid calculation errors from reducing PQ (think of this as inaccuracy due to rounding off the numbers.)

Is 8-bit good quality or is it necessary to go 10-bit for Xbox 360 and DVDs?

That boils down to whether you want to pay the premium prices of the new 120Hz TVs or get a bargain on the old stuff. As the new stuff shows up, prices will be high but dropping as Black Friday approaches. Old stuff will drop due to this pressure.

Re new stuff and gaming, see post#14 of the JVC 898 thread. Re DVD, it's a question of whether jerky motion bothers you.
