Emotiva RPA-1 400 watt 2 Channel Power Amplifier

Is this any good for music? I've read that it's more for a HT... I'm only in music for my setup of Rockets 760. What would be a good preamp for this that has a good phono input... Is it ok to mix brands with preamp and amps?

The Emotiva combo is the best deal out there:

Separates for less than many 5.1 receivers.

Both components have gotten great reviews and they're good guys to deal with.

I'll second that. Bought mine in April and have loved every minute of listening.

Haven't used it yet. Looking to pick up a new player towards the end of the year.

Affordable Audio has a review of the amp in their November issue.

They really liked it.

'Let's begin at the end - the RPA-1 lives up to its brief description as an audiophile grade two channel power amplifier
with uncompromising fidelity. Further, Emotiva indicates states it will satisfy the most critical listener. Typically,
the marketing departments of audio manufacturers tend to dish out a generous helping of poetry pie to describe
their products, but in this instance these words ring true for the RPA-1.'

Here's a good review of the pre/power combo which discusses the phone stage:
