I've got Sin City but my camera isn't that great and I don't have a tripod.

The Spirit on Blu-ray looks like a fricking Kuro Demo Disc throughout the entire length of the film. I sat and watched with my mouth open the entire time. Amazing visuals!

Yeah, but from what i've heard the movie isn't that good. Try Sin City. It's a masterpiece!!!

I've got my hands on Sin City BD yesterday. BB is selling it for $16. Will post some picture of my 141. But my camera is not good enough for good pictures and don't have a tripod either but will try to get something out of it.

$16 for the blu-ray? I checked online and it says $29.99. Was it a one day sale or a sale that ended yesterday?

Would love to see some high skilled pictures of "The Spirit".
In Europe, unfortunately, not yet available.
My pictures arn't very, "high skilled" put about a week ago I put "The Spirit" on my netflix quote. It looked like it was a movie that would be amazing on the Kuro and would have really nice scenes to take shots of.

I just got it today, so I'll take some shots of it.

(On a side note, while the scenes look good, the movie itself if horrible, I don't know if I'm going to be able to finish it. Which is sad because I loved Sin City, and was hoping for a good flix.) lol

Online and store prices aren't always the same.

The difference is night and day. I had Jeff meier from AccuCal calibrate mine. He did isf day and the brightness difference from pure is well---night and day. I describe it as Optimum with color accuracy.

Pm me if you have any other questions.

Awesome guys! Excited for the pics!

I might just have to go pick up Sin City myself for $16. I've never seen it!

Here are a couple of shots from, "The Spirit". It's contrast between light and dark made it for myself a hard movie to photograph. Also, my lack of interest in the content. (Imo it's a horrible movie and was painful to watch lol) I only ended up with two pictures I found decent.

It will take some of the more skill photographers to do this movie justice. I wasn't able to get any of the really good scenes do to the darkness of the scenes, and over and under exposure.

Buying a more expensive camera will not make you a better photographer, and will not make you take better pictures. You need to get the basics down first, hence my advice on purchasing the LZ8 or A590IS. That way, if your skills advance, the low initial investment will make it more palatable to then go buy a more expensive camera afterwards.

The LZ8 and A590IS are my recommendations.

I have the panasonic DMC-FS6 is comparable to features and results with your Panasonic LZ8 ?

What exactly are all your settings that you set for Panasonic LZ8 to make the photos to your ?

Thanks for your attention

Iuki:

I'm not familiar with the FS6. All I do know is that the FS6 is a very simple ultra-compact point & shoot that doesn't have any Manual operation controls.

As for the settings I use on the LZ8, if you take a look at some of my past posts, I do indicate what I've set the camera to do. Or, you can save the image onto your computer for you to see the jpeg EXIF properties.

Edit: I should add that point & shoots with no manual controls can take GREAT photos, and can take great photos of the Kuro as long as you can suppress the flash and set the ISO to its lowest sensitivity (to reduce noise). The advantage of manual controls is that it allows you to manipulate certain photo parameters so that the resulting photo best matches the images on the Kuro.

Looking at some of your LZ8 images I saw you use an ISO of 100, F-stop of 5.6, and your exposure time is 1/3 sec.

My questions is, can you manually set that 1/3 sec exposure time, or is that simply something that happens, and can't be adjusted?
^Manual is just that, i.e.: manually adjusting/setting the shutter speed (and other parameters) based on the optimal exposure reading to get the image as close to the image on the Kuro. Nothing is automated in manual mode.

Thanks! I find I like a 1/14 sec exposure time for a lot of images. Right now I have to trick my camera into doing that, and to be honest the same settings always seem to give a different exposure time.

I can't wait to be able to set it myself, without having to try and trick the camera into it. hehe
post #4046 of 5951
Again, it boils down to experimenting until you get the image to look as close as possible to the image on the Kuro.

How is your lighting in the room set up when you take pictures.
