Nice pics Urga...

Very sharp and clear looking.

In the summer of 2005 i lived with a girlfriend (French) for three months in Montpellier. Her dad had bought a brand new 42" Panasonic plasma. Can't remember if it was a tv or monitor. But i can remember the tv channels (broadcast) looking brilliantly clean and clear. They have some tasty channels over there wink.gif . I remember thinking the tv was incredible and i loved it dearly although it wasn't mine. Didn't think it could get any better until i saw the first Pio Kuro wink.gif

Still haven't.. seen anything new match an 8G if i'm honest. Except the nines

There is no such thing as PAL HDTV. The broadcast screen resolutions for HDTV are the same world wide, though a lot of European broadcast HDTV would most likely be 1080i/25 instead of 1080i/30. European countries do use a different broadcast method and decoder type and this might have something to do with quality differences.

Images look fantastic for an SD source,What is the name of this movie?
They certainly do !

Could be forgiven for thinking these SD images are running through a processor worth thousands of $'s perhaps.

Since he is in Europe, the SD DVD may be PAL which means that the source material has about 20% greater native resolution. My own experience with PAL DVDs on my 151FD is that they can look a lot better than NTSC DVDs and have an upscaled picture that is awfully close to HD quality. One of the things I really love about the Kuros is that they are multi-standard and can support both NTSC and PAL properly for SD material.

does anybody else think it's a little odd to try and look at somebody else's display as it's displayed on your own?

I mean, yeah these pics look good, but then i'm like, hmm that person's face looks a little red, or that corner looks kind pixelated, and how am I supposed to know what your display actually looks like when I have to view it on my display, haha. I mean if I like what i'm seeing, doesn't that mean MY display is nice?
Known limitation of this and other similar threads.... Get a Kuro for your self, have it calibrated, and then you will see....
