hard to tell the difference between a Krp-600m and the ZT60 calibrated
post #5854 of 7288
The Kuro is always in tune, I see no weakness on mine ...
None on mine either. I'm still wowed by the picture it puts forth.

Hey Urga,

You are the best photographer on AVS Forums!
Love looking at your shots and comparing to my TV.

Q> A few posts up you state you tweaked your S790 settings. I also have an S790 Blu Ray player.
I always thought it was best to send out a pure digital signal and tweak the settings at the HDTV.

Can you share these tweaked settings?
The settings are for my S790 Kuro 5090H ...
I do not mind the partarger, but it is not 100% portable to another screen ... wink.gif
post #5858 of 7288
OK... I understand.

Just curious which settings in the S790 were tweaked for improved PQ.
I will do my own experimentation...

Hello Urga,

May I ask what settings you use for your camera when taking pictures of your display with?

Thx.
Need a tripod ...
I'm in manual, it depends on the image shoter ...
In respect of colorimetry already do a manual BdB on 75 IRE pattern taken on the screen and stored in the camera ...
Then have to put a small opening, I'm F8 ...
Search for the best exhibition not block black and white not burn, an art ...
I shote 16/9 on Cinemascope image and 3/2 (silver) on 1.33 Image 1.66, 1.77, 1.78, 1.85 ...
Important not to get in the car on camera, his will not be good ... wink.gif

PS : I Love Manchester United, I watch a lot ...

The European ZT was reviewed and the reviewer stated the following
Quote:
All we can say is that the P60ZT65 has more than lived up to its billing and is, quite simply, the best plasma TV we have ever seen. Time to put those KUROs on eBay guys.
http://www.avforums.com/reviews/Panasonic-TX-P60ZT65B-P60ZT60-ZT65-60-Inch-3D-Plasma-Television_525/Review.html

Pretty much all signs we've seen are pointing to the ZT as the best plasma ever produced(or at least most will agree on this). It started with former Pioneer engineers stating this, then at demos people were saying this and now reviews on production units are coming out agreeing for the most part.

That said im sure differences are only noticeable when TVs are side by side. My friend has a Panasonic from 2006. I can immediately tell the night and day difference in PQ from that to a modern Panasonic.

The guy who said it and crazy, I'm not ready to put my Kuro in the trash ... wink.gif
We'll see how long will a ZT60 compared to Kuro when you see the finish and quality of the component elements of the chain shot from below ... biggrin.gif
post #5864 of 7288
Urga. Do you use the darbee?
No ...
Only Sharp Kuro + Sharp filters S790 and LX55 ...
It is enough ... cool.gif

Well I personally wouldn't upgrade unless you really needed a slightly bigger TV. The only real upgrade in my eyes is going the projector route.

the ZT60 isn't going to be the set that replaces the KURO's, that is kuro owners probably won't sell theirs because of it. but it hopefully will be the tv that shuts some ppl up, and makes them believe a new tv might actually be better than a 5+ year old TV again.

not owning a kuro, the zt only needs to match the PQ to be a better buy. it's available, comes with warranty, has new features, etc. i'm quite excited to see it personally. i never got into the flat screen scene until after the demise of the kuro(CRT's were much better for me up to that point) so i've been wating for something else to come along this whole time...

With the exception of those owners who only managed to grab a 50" and have a bug in their ears telling them to move up in size.cool.gif

Definitely not selling my 151. No way. There's no need to.

Why should people shut up? It's not that noone believed a new TV could be "better" than the kuro, it's just that it never happened as the years went by. So people got fed up and thought the kuro would be as good as it gets.

Like i always say, the kuros praise all these years were highly warranted. People that got upset by that were the real fanboys. Or just mad for no real apparent reason other than they hated what the kuro stood for.

*shrugs*

yeah, even if it is 'better' it's not going to be dramatic so no need to upgrade. just nice for the rest of us to have something as good that can be purchased now.

i should clarify, no hate for the kuros. it was more to the people saying the zt60 'can't' beat the kuro and it's all just marketing/hype as if it's impossible to beat the kuro...
in all honesty, i think it's absolutely PATHETIC that it took this long to maybe match the picture quality of the kuro.
for what it's worth, i wish i had a kuro... but i REALLY wish manufacturers had just done a better job of catching up. it's very frustrating when technology does not advance.

in either event, a tv meeting or beating the kuro's performance should be seen as great news for everybody!
The advantage I could see the ZT60 having over a Kuro is daylight viewing with its better filter. Night viewing probably will be little difference.
D-Nice says the Panny is no match the 9G or better. That's what he told me.

I appreciate his knowledge and contributions (he's right 99% of the time, lol), but when he told you this, had he even seen one of these ZT60s (preproduction or otherwise) demoed? If he means in comparison to his ultra low black level calibration technique, I'm sure that'll be true.
Hello ,
The issue is not that there are fanboys of Kuro, just to say that the ZT60 is probably the successor to the Kuro, but it does not overwrite as some tend to say ...
It's swell to say that we take the Kuro on ebay wink.gif

!

You realize Kuro's were going for 6 grand and Pioneer was still taking a loss? What I mean is technology has advanced. It's allowed people to walk into a Best Buy and walk out with a 60" ST60 for $1500 which is very close in terms of performance.

If there wasn't a world recession for the last 4+ years then maybe we would be talking a different tune but manufactures have to stay in business first for foremost. Nothing pathetic about Panasonic and Samsung figuring out a way to still sell plasmas

absolutely right ..the global.. economy..and big losses.. has kept pioneer from continuing to make and invest in the technology..that is what killed the KURO concept ..of 08 ..which would have been the grand daddy of all.. to date HDTV's.. this things is 9 MM THIN and was the best P/Q of all flat panels CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90
