Playing James Bond earlier today on 360... Bloodstone 007.

Horrendously broken target system at times and some other silly flaws...

But thankfully it was only 99p on the bay smile.gif

How weird i have never heard of anything like that before - i wonder if the Kuro 151 has raised mll.

If i blackout my room i don't need content on screen to have a difficult job of telling it's on on a recorded full black signal on my 500 it's so dark. I am trying to capture images but it's very difficult without having something like the brightness control setting up on screen to prove it hasn't gone into shutdown of the mll to sarcastic sceptics unfortunately.

Rob knows what i'm talking about with his 500 in a blackout room also how dark they go

The PZ800U was able to achieve a calibrated black level of .008 ftls, before any black level rise.

The Pioneer Pro-151FD has a calibrated black level of .001 ftls (or better).

Either your displays are badly in need of a calibration, or you're due for a trip to the eye doctor.

Well your 151 has elevated black levels then. The kuro measures darker than your 800U.

My 151 was calibrated by D-Nice. It has a black level of 0.0002.
My 151s black level is .0006 ...........101 is .0002
post #6310 of 7287
Still jealous, but those are only D-Nice procurable numbers. smile.gif
post #6311 of 7287
We know, vinnie. You don't have to point that out everytime. lol.

Either way, it's something being reproduced by the kuros hardware. Is it even possible for other displays to do this? Like can the VT/ZT have lower black levels if D-Nice tried?
Excuse the eff outta' me. wink.gif

I don't know...it took the Kuro a few years before it was "discovered" (and this involved an engineering connection). Stay tuned....?

If it's a lowering of the MLL by clever manipulation of the colors near black and it's included along with a calibration for extra pennies then i don't understand why some make out it's like some sort of cheating.

If the Kuro's are capable of it then why not - the whole point of calibration is to get the lowest mll possible out of a display while everything else remains accurate with regards to colour and shadow details etc. If Kuro's and D-Nice can do this and others can't then that's just tough luck. Hat's off to him imo.

I doubt it's tweaking of other voltages that he has always advised against.

Happy Halloween everyone smile.gif

Does the kuro have history of raised mll?

My 500 does not get dark like yours. In a pitch black room, the black bars look almost dark grayish black. It looks truly black when bright scenes shows on the screen. I been using D-Nice's pure settings since the beginning. It's been 3 years. Never been calibrated, I guess that could explain the dark grayish blacks??? or my krp is going bad!

Maybe it's time for a calibration....

Tbh some must change over time. As class as they are some must behave differently after some time and billions of pulse counts or whatever it's the law of averages i guess.

Being a tinkerer/tweaker by nature i enjoy experimenting constantly with different settings etc.

On video output i never leave it on Auto - i either use 0-255 or 16-255 and change manual colour, saturation, contrast, brightness and gamma accordingly to what looks like real to me.

For instance depending on what one i'm using my KRP doesn't reach it's absolute mll on a full black screen until brightness is approximately under at (least) -36. But it's difficult to say exactly what number it does as it's incredibly dark/black and i have nothing to measure it with. But even then shadow details remain immense well under that number if viewing in blackout room... The other video output mll is brightness between -7 and -4. But i prefer +6 in a dark room with normal content on screen. During the day on that output brightness can be anything up to +10 with movie bars remaining ink black. To get them looking ink black in a dark room with content on screen it's brightness anything from -4 all the way up to +6.

Saying that this is my first M so i don't have anything to compare it with in how it gets to it's MLL. But my 500A was just as dark by eye but it just got there differently is all.

But this m was nearly 25hrs when i got it and i thoroughly ran it in according to D-NICE's break in procedure which is cool. And it's definitely changing still - over 600hrs now on it but it gets better all the time i'm sure of it. And im sure the initial run in has helped big time.

It would be criminal not to get a krp calibrated eventually imo

I've had my 5020 for 5 years now and have never posted here before. Just picked up the VT60 (awesome TV btw) but still enjoy the KURO just a tad bit more.

"This is the End"

Nothing special like Urga, just sharing some appreciation for a technology that still holds its own category.

do you not have hd ya cheapskate stuey:)
No i only have free to view HD broadcast channels. But the Philips box (and of course) the KRP do a great job of SD & HD considering what they're given with regards to bandwidth imo wink.gif

If i'm getting compression i would rather not have to pay any more than i need (SKY HD) like i used to.

Tv licence every year is enough nowadays
I have Sky + HD with all packs and sports for a princely £33 a month, more HD than you can shake a stick at smile.gif, got that until November 2014, nice price lol.
I prefer spending the cash i used to spend on SKY on Blu-ray and games personally nowadays. And with BT grabbing up the Champions League rights and others Sky and their extortionate compression fees aren't that attractive to me nowadays wink.gif
post #6330 of 7287
Champions League ...

Bayer Leverkusen - Manchester United ...
