Thanks Stu! It's KRP500M

Not calibrated, using standard Pure mode (D-Nice standard settings)

I was viewing on a different display device/monitor earlier and I thought it was a tweaked (D-Nice) 60" model for some reason was why I asked smile.gif

Perhaps it was the different aspect ratio of the computer monitor that my eyes weren't/aren't used to that tricked me looking briefly

More fine detail in the Kuro shot with Johnny Depp's bandana.

Kuro green more accurate/lifelike. Panasonic green looks like it has a yellow hue to it (skintones also) but still nice i guess
post #6396 of 7274
That's also Panasonic's low-end model...
Yes Vinnie i'm aware of that.

Well I have never had the ability to watch a Kuro for an extended amount of time. These photos help me understand the craze for them. At rare times I think the Sony W9 looks better than the Kuro, however the Dark Knight photo that shows Batman's mask I had to stare at for a while. WOW! Same can be said for the Tron Legacy shots. I don't know if I've never seen anything like that, as that TV has some impressive dark detail.

There is something admirable about how well the ST60 holds up to the mighty Kuro. Shame neither are available anymore. Thanks for the photos!

Urga, you should try using the same BD player.

Actually, i don't think it matters. The difference between BD players is not as dramatic as many like to believe. I was just curious. Any difference would come down to the player adding it's own processing to the picture. The PS3 was found to not add anything extra at all. What you see is what you get. That's why, imo, i still think it's one of the best.

I'm not a huge bond fan, but those shots make me want to buy it just for eye candy.

Good comparison pics Urga smile.gif

Same again - more details in the Kuro with mega skintones... And again with a yellowish hue on the Panasonic clothing, hair, skintones and greens.

:Edit:

Perhaps it's nicotine lol - does the Panasonic smoke heavily wink.gif

I'd be interested in seeing a comparison of the kuro & ST60 while alternating the BR players, especially using the screen shots from post #6402.

Very nice pics pg-ice!! My eyes had a slight preference for the W9 in those shots. biggrin.gif
post #6406 of 7274
In reality, if sitting in front of the two the Kuro would comfortably win if it is some sort of competition between two absolute opposite display technologies.

Enthusiastic enthusiasts know that, expert professionals know that. Unfortunately the majority of the buying public did not realise that because of a number of key, but crucial reasons. We have no plasma left now whatsoever because of it.

All you can really do to post comparison images of an LCD and a Plasma - is to try to get the color and light output similar.

That's not to say these aren't good pictures because they are. But in reality the two technologies are like chalk and cheese and a few stills shows not a lot in reality.

My two cents.

I find the flesh tones in the Blackbeard (right? ... haven't seen Pirates IV yet) photos to be not as critical as the look of the leather in the Kuro vs. the ST. I've seen black leather many times in person but I've never seen the makeup shade on that actor's face. The gray hairs in his beard and the really authentic look of the leather in the Kuro's picture is what really impresses me.

Thanks
Maybe at the pics but not irl.
I only use the w9 when im make comparsions.

kuro wins 8 times of 10
those 2 times goes to the w9 for its higher brightness and 5" bigger screen.
i see the blue blacks every time now lol
going to sell it next week.
Great christmas present smile.gif

My two cents.

They are at the same brightness.
Dont you read the posts wink.gif?
Same peak light and the same grayscale gamma and colors.
I have a colormeter you know smile.gif
Yes I read the posts smile.gif

Didn't you read mine.

It doesn't get away from the fact that LCD's and plasmas are (very different technologies). And stills of both is only approximately ten percent of the whole performance story imo

Well ok you dont see the motion handling and the difference in flickering.
If i compare the pictures with how they perform i say that you see 70-80% of the truth in the pictures.
If you have a calibrated display that is.

Where is the 90% that you dont see here i wonder ?
tvs are about picture quality.
You have high quality pictures that is close to what you seeing
Should i have recorded sound to hear the differences ?
its not a comparsion between receivers smile.gif
90% is somewhere else right ?

Please don't patronize.

So this for you isn't so much about posting images of the Pioneer Kuro as so far as it is an LCD vs Plasma thread - for you i mean.

Correct ?

How do i take it to serious.

Check the 'thread title'...

Yep you have an LCD, great, you have a Kuro, great.

It's getting WAY off topic.

honestly I really like the same room comparison shots.

it's really an exercise in futility to try and look at pictures of a display, on another display, anyway. I mean, every time I look at one of the pics and think, 'man, that DOES look good', it's quickly followed by, 'I guess MY tv has a good picture too'.

with the comparison shots it really makes the differences stand out, and since some of those displays I can still see or have seen personally, it helps me appreciate the kuro even more. you know, when a display I think is pretty stellar looks obviously worse in a side-by-side comparison shot, that makes me respect the kuro.

just my 2cents

You aren't listening - pg_ice isn't listening/reading properly.

I said the pictures were good a few posts back - isn't that enough.

You might as well fire over some images of your Panasonic also i can't even remember if you own a Kuro do you ?

Someone should really change the title of the thread though because its getting a bit silly now.

Perhaps change it to ANY tv or technology VS the Kuro pictures threads...

Gotta laugh though - no one would go and post pictures of their Kuro's on other picture threads of other manufacturers though without expecting the big fat pointed finger.

Lol.

I don't get the problem with PG's pictures? I like comparisons of different TV's to the kuro. If it's because it's not 100% accurate, well yeah no picture is. He even said in person the kuros better PQ is more obvious.

they are pictures of kuros. seems like it fits the thread to me? there's also some pictures of tv stands, and receivers, and speakers in the thread too. should we be concerned about that too?

Sure, whatever. It's no big deal, funny though that certain things can be classed as off topic on other threads when suits.

Thankfully some people realised what i was trying to say hence the few nice thumbsups received.

But carry on off topic or whatever - it's getting to close to Christmas to give a.

Merry Christmas when it comes.
