If it has "Pause LiveTV" then there is much to be desired. The Polo 2000g has the best, IMO, time shift feature. However, on the Phillips, some of us just record the show we want to chase play and it works fine for just that show while it is recording. You are stuck there since you cannot change channels (at the real time end of the show in Pause Live TV which is open ended, but can at the end of the recording time), but you can watch other recorded shows. The nice thing about the Polo was it was very friendly for multitasking, except when recording a scheduled show and time shift. The Phillips works much better for that. Also remembers where you were when you dropped out so can resume easily.
The quality of either the Phillips or the Polo are about the same for SP signals and are very close to the original signal, but the digital tuner on the Phillips really makes a difference. I record HD channels and the drop off from HD on my 42" LCD is easily seen but still better than any SD signal. Many who come in while I am watching a recorded HD show a think it is HD and are very impressed until I show them a live HD channel.
So if this is a clone, except for HD size and connections, it should be a nice set for the money. The key will be the digital tuner and if they fixed the Phillips issues. Most of the other things are "why doesn't it have what was on my (fill in the set)", just as I did with the comparison with the Polo.
