Worlds fastest inspection?

Hey all,

I don't have an official contruction thread but I just want to share my joy. My basement HT rough-in inspections passed! Framing, electrical, plumbing, mechanicals (HVAC) all made it. I'd say the inspection took all of 5 minutes!

Two inspectors came out and basically did a walk thru. They didn't have any questions or pull any wires out of the boxes or anything. The only comments were about installing a CO2 detector (new code) and that it was good that I put in AC. Oh, and he asked, "where's the platform?" I grinned and said that's coming later. He also said I don't have to call him back until I'm all done - no insulation inspection. That's cool.

So all my fretting the details for nothing. I guess I could've cut some corners

Onward ho!

Congratulations. That is a big step. I was fretting over the rough-in as well. My county offers free "courtesy" inspections prior to the actual and when my inspector came out I walked her through what I was doing, asked a ton of questions, and when she came out for my rough-in all she asked about was my outlet grounds and pigtails, picked a random box, and looked at it and signed me off. I had to get insulation as well but that took no more than 2 minutes as well.

Not sure what I was worrying about. Press on to gypboard and you'll be done before you know it. And never cut corners. You'll know you did it and you'll never feel right about it.

I had two inspections by the same guy, one before the drywall and one after. I would estimate that the inspector was in my house for a total of 10 minutes for both inspections. Totally painless. He had one small change he wanted made on the first inspection.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I was a bit nerveous when I found out they wanted to combine all the roughs and the framing inspections at the same time. I mean, what if I screwed up a wall that had a bunch of electrical or plumbing going through it?! Luckily all went well...

I'm feeling pretty re-energized right now. Being a one-man show it took a long time to get to this point (10 months) so I'm starting to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I hate coming to work now because I want to just keep going in the basement!

Cheers,
Andy
