UPS with surge protection OR Just surge protection only

I just got APC UPS Surge Arrest model BE325R-CN on sale.
I went to APC site and can't find this model.. So right now it's still in the box.
I know UPS is used for computers but not sure if its ok to use for HT system.

Now I'm really thinking is it best to use a UPS for TV, BD player and Recvr system.

Or

Should I just return this item and change it to a Surge Protection not a UPS?

I use an APC UPS on my TV. I had one get fried by a power blip even though it was on a regular surge protector. Use the UPS, it won't hurt anything. It cleans up your power and keeps your equipment safe.

I am using an APC 900VA UPS, works great and it has rudimentary AVR.

Actually it doesn't "clean your power" at all since it's bypassing the battery as soon as it's charged. If it was in a constant charge/drain cycle like supplying "clean" power would take it would kill the battery's capacity almost immediately.

If you live somewhere that has a lot of brownouts they can be very useful though.

APC has a number of models with built-in AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) which does handle the small over and under voltage excursions that happen pretty regularly so they do in fact "clean" the power to some degree without involving the battery which comes on line only in case of an outage. I use an APC SmartUPS 1500 behind a Brick Wall surge protector for all of my A/V equipment and am pretty comfortable that I'm well protected.

You can adjust the low and high levels with the APC software.

There are also other configurable settings and you can turn off the annoying beeping too.

This one would be interesting... A bit expensive though.

I have the big brother, S-15, and it has worked flawlessly.
