Sub Ottoman project done

I actually finished this project over six months ago but finally took some pics and thought I would post it up on here since this is where I got my inspiration!
The box is about 3.6 cubic feet net and I designed it with winisd. The driver is a TCsounds 12" db-500, 4" port, running a remotely mounted bash 500 watt amp. I believe I tuned it to 19 or 20 hz (have to find old project notes). I still need to run the power wire under the carpet and change the resistor in the bash amp- not sure of what value to go with though??? This thing sounds great by the way and absolutely shakes the house!

Pretty darn crafty there! It is nice to see something outside the expected.

Nice work!

Thanks for the positive feedback. Any ideas on the resistor values for the PE bash 500 amp? I have done some searching and am trying to make sense of the value sheet that came with the amp but if anyone has any input that would be great.

Any reason why you didn't make both the port and driver downfiring and make the cushion the same size as the box? Other than that, looks good. Great job on the upholstry.

Because the port would be longer than the height of the box if it was facing down unless I did a slot port or multiple large ports to get my desired 20 hz. The sub is pointed toward the wall/furniture and you dont really see it. I would also have to raise the unit off the ground even more for downfiring sub due to excursion and didnt want to waste box displacement just to gain ground clearence. The cushion is larger because I thought more of the cushion would roll over when I upholstered it- that is my biggest problem with it and I plan on re-doing the top since it is completely separate from the box unit and easily detachable.

The default values of R17=10K and R18=60K give you about a 2.5db boost in the 36hz range and a subsonic filter around 30hz. Since you have a 20hz Fb, I'd go with R17=20K and R18=75K. That gives you a 1db boost and an Fc of 18.7hz.
