Best of luck! I have a Ryan home we moved in to 1/16/07 here in PA. I was in the house EVERY DAY to check things out and they did a great job... Like others have said, go in often and check everything out, take lots of pictures!

I also went in and did my own wiring... (even though they said not to...)

He's absolutely right. This has saved me many headaches in the past. We're talkin hundreds of pics to get avery anal detail.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I've been visiting almost daliy up until last week.

I visited today and the hardwood is down, the kitchen is almost in place (cabinets/island), and the walls are painted.

Here's the trim on the house (Blue). Will probably look better if I get some blinds on that window that are frosted or light blue to match:

Here's a shot from inside the great room, looking into the kitchen (iphone pic):

Color is off (iphone), but this gives an idea of the island size:

I visited lazy boy and chose this microfiber reclining couch (comes with 2 chair recliners in same look) - it will go in a 2 story great room with white walls and offwhite carpet:

I'm looking for a 2 seater for the morning room (hardwood floor), saw this one on modernfurniture.com for $850:

Here's a red one from lazyboy ($600). It comes in the beige on the left, also. Good because it has a low back and doesn't block the view of the pond:

I'm planning on picking these up for my basement theater (5 Berkline 088s, that colour is discontinued now, there is a slightly darker/shiner orange/brown now):

Brown microfiber microfiber sofa recliner and beige microfiber couch puchased.

Next up, 5 berkline 88s.

Careful... we know what half of you looks like now.

You're moving along at warp speed Elmo. After I close on my house Friday (16th) I'm not going to be able to afford anything for a while.

Interesting kitchen layout. Never seen a layout like that before.

So you're closing today, let me know how it goes! I am trying to get all my "stuff" before I close, so I don't have the urge to try and afford more later..which of course will happen. =(

Thanks, I'll take more pictures and video when I actually move in. The island is fairly big, and I should be able to host well with it...not that I'm much of a cook, but I'll learn.

UPDATE: The Toshiba XA2 HD-DVD was ordered and should be delivered soon.

Yes, we closed today. It went ok. I just had to sign and initial a lot of things. Thankfully it didn't take too long (~45 minutes). Tomorrow the fun starts (installing garage door opener, starting to run my CAT6 around, etc).

Careful you don't affect your credit prior to closing with all these purchases.

Good advice, I sort of thought I was in the clear with my loan somehow - didn't really realize I actually get the loan at closing time (?).

Supposedly they check your credit once again right before closing and things you may have done between your initial approval and closing can affect things. The sales agent I worked with told me about someone who bought a hummer before closing and actually couldn't get the loan and wasn't able to buy the house.

Apparently there are some things in my contract that my lender didn't account for, so rather than getting back about $1700 at title time, I still owe another $300 or so. So that's a net loss of $2000.

Argh. No berklines for me anymore...

No, no, NO!

At my closing the tried to bilk me for almost $3800. I prepped my wife on the way in: "Roll with me.. I'm going to threaten to walk". She averted her eyes during most of the "negotiation", which included getting my mortgage broker on phone while he was sick in bed.

3 hours later and they owed ME about $40. After we got out, my real estate agent shook my hand and said it was the best thing he had ever seen.

These poeple are being paid large sums of money to broker this deal for you. Knowing the details is ther JOB. If they failed at that, start discussing who's commssion it will come out of.

OK, I talked it over with them and got a chunk of my money back! Thanks scaesare.

On a side note, I ordered my "winter" car and it should arrive next week, delivered right to my house (moving into a new house AND having a "new" car sitting on the driveway the same week!).

Not really new, but new to me!

Glad to hear you got some $$ back! More pictures to show??

So the question is... as a car guy myself, what is your "summer" car if that is your "winter car"??

Hahaha, excellent! I would assume you are a member of e46fanatics? A friend of mine is practically a full-time employee on there with as much as he posts.. FutureZero-Neo I believe is his name on there. What about updated house/HT pictures too?

Mark,

I do not post on e46fanatics all that much...I used to be a full time employee on roadfly.org.

I will have plenty of updated pictures this week. The HT will take a little longer, too many moving parts and way too many delays (SVS is back ordered on the ultras until december it seems) - don't have a screen yet (didn't order with carada yet)...etc.

My winter car is a Ford Excursion. I'm environmentally conscious.

I just had my walkthrough today and I am ecstatic. My project manager and myself noticed a few small blemishes, outside of that - looking at the inside/outside of the house, I have no idea why I'd ever want anything else.

It's my dream house!

I ordered some Berkline seats from Kyle from carolina interiors. He stayed with me for months while I searched for a good deal. I will post pictures/review of those when I receive them.

I got my Sim2 PJ today, man life is good. Now to spread the joy, gotta start xmas shopping!

So the white fit got sold to someone else, supposedly it already had a deposit down when it was "sold" to me - LOL!

My luck.

My other luck is I bet Ryan Homes won't give me the keys today for one reason or another....

We had a crazy ordeal when it came to getting keys... Luckily our sales rep warned us of other people who had strange issues and she was available after our closing to work things out! Hope things work out for you!

I would say give that salesman a bonus, but it sounds like you just did! NICE RIDE!

How did you got from Fit to Accord? Skipped over the Civic? We have an 07 Ridgeline and an 03 Civic (mine).

Hope you get a chance to settle and start "the real fun part"
