head unit suggestion.

looking to get a new head unit for my 2001 civic ex 2dr. i've used a Alpine before and loved it, but it was stolen.

here are a couple i'm looking at:
1. Alpine CDA-9887
2. Pioneer DEH-P880PRS

I've always been an Alpine fan. I've used them for many years, and I wouldn't/won't use anything else. And yes, I've used a lot of units, but the Alpine units are my favorites. From a statistical stanpoint, I typically keep the Alpine units for about 6 years each. I would have never realized that until I did the math.

I have a 9885 (the 9887 wasn't out yet), I'd buy a 9887 if I was in the market, I use it with my iPod, and thats the reason I upgraded from a 9833.

The iPod controlling ability of the 9885 and all the new ones is outstanding.

i'd prefer alpine as well b/c i've had good experience, but there's one big issue with the 9887. supposedly it needs a $300 add-on item to enable EQ tuning. not a big deal i think since i usually leave eq on flat, but will stuff like time-correction be available w/o the add-on?
