I'm assuming we can talk about used gear prices, right?
If so, I found a Denon 4802 and a Sony S300 Blu ray player for $700 on Craigslist locally. I called and the guy still has the box, remote and manual for the Denon, and the Blu ray player is almost new. I offered him $600 cash. I don't need HDMI. I was going to pull the trigger on an Onkyo 805, but I'm thinking this older Denon probably has a more robust amp section. My Olevia 37" LCD is only 1080i and has HDMI inputs, so the player should work out running directly to the LCD.
My other option is to offer this guy $250 - $300 for the Denon which I really need, and get a HD DVD player with the free movies instead.
Friends have told me the HD DVD players are faster to load, the the pic quality is practically the same.
Any comments/suggestions?
