hdmi on pioneer kuro 5010 - film mode

i've got my xbox360 hd-dvd hooked up via HDMI to my pioneer 5010. i notice when I go into film mode, all the options are grayed out and OFF is selected.

but if i watch my digital cable box, i can select the film mode. i thought this feature was more beneficial for HD sources like blu-ray and hd-dvd.

am i missing something? why is it grayed out?

(thanks in advance.)

You cannot select any Pure Cinema mode when using a 1080p/60 signal.

another question: is there a way to make this movie appear with less black space? i tried the other modes but nothing seemed to work. i feel like this could be stretched "properly" and other DVDs fill the screen.

is this something other kuro owners see? (this is the truman show DVD).

You're suppose to have bars on the top and bottom....not on the sides. You have configured something wrong with your setup.

It's in the manual of your XBox360 and Kuro.

If the movie was played on your HD-DVD player, the most likely culprit for this problem is the setting in your x-box 360.

You have to go to your:
|--System Menu
|--Console Settings
|--Display

you will have to check your resolution and screen format. You may need to enable widescreen (16:9) to output the widescreen movie correctly.
Let me know if it solves the problem?
