MyHD 130 480i out

Hey i gots a quick question about a MyHD 130. For some reason i cant get it to output in 720x480I in YPbPr, or RGB (i need YPbPr to my older tv but either way it wont alow me to run at that res) It comes up with an error of

"Frame VOP cannot be used in 720_480 I"

the only res that my tv will run at is 480i (its an older CRT tv) and it only accepts YPbPr (i made my own cable) I DO get picture if i run at 480P that obviously messed up cus of progressive scan (it looks just like a dvd player i had hooked up to it when i would switch to progressive scan)

Anyways help would be much apreciated!

Everything is normal since you have an older CRT TV which can not scan at 720i and which will not accept any progressive scan resolution over its component interface.
I am not aware of any TVs that will accept 720i except with their digital tuners.

i got it to work... just had to change the VOP from 60frames/second to 60feilds/second

nother problem though the quality is fine but bout every 5 seconds the picture flickers, almost like a graphical artifact... what you think could be the prob?

The only "VOP" setting that I'm aware of has nothing to do with MyHD's HD output (where the RBG/Component outputs appear) but refers to updates to the desktop overlay window. Are you sure that you were setting the HD output resolution to 720x480i? If the flicker that you're talking about is in that desktop overlay, it's caused by a bad or improperly installed Windows video driver.

Your graphics card is not capable of keepingup with the the output resolution you are usiing when displaying HD programs you are recieving. Note that it takes a far more powerfull graphics card to handle 1080i programs then it does to handle 720p programs.

well i have no desktop overlay for some reason... but isnt it when in HD mode that the actual tv tuner is outputting the video thus processing the video, not the gfx card?

and yes im 100% sure i was setting the HD res to 480i because once i changed the VOP to feilds/second i could change to 480I and i can get beautiful picture on my standard tv...

now the only real prob is this flickering... it MIGHT be the gfx, but like i said i think the 130 does all video processing in hd.

the flickering is in HD mode btw.

Lije I stated in my previous post your graphics card is not capable of keeping up when processing HD broadcasts that is why it is dropping frames. Unless your display is connected to the HD card and not to your PC's graphics card it is not doing ALL of the HF video processing for your display.

the video signal goes like this... vga from gfx to myhd 130... back out to vga out to a vga-component cable to my tv...

i mean look at the hw requirements

IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® III 800 MHz or greater for HDTV recording and playback, 128 MB memory, Remote Control receiver requires USB port, Sound card with speakers

i dunno ill have to play with it some more to see whats going on.

is there anychance i can use a different TV viewing program with this card?

You've got the right idea. (I don't know what walford is smoking, but he's not up to speed on MyHD's configuration it seems) When you're viewing the HD output (always full screen, directly from the MDP-1x0) your PC's graphics card is out of the action (except for its driver's possibly causing some pixelation by processing the desktop overlay signals over the PCI bus, if you've not disabled it in MyHD's config panel or using --).

No.

thats what i thought... it MIGHT be my gfx messing with things as it is an OLD all-in-wonder 128 pro (only reson i use it is cus its passive and this is in a quite box that i hide in the corner) but i have another passive gfx card (geforce 4mx 420) that i could use to do svid out to get the desktop image to the tv screen.

and what does shift-ctrl-o do?

Turns off the MyHD overlay window - which you should definitely do since you don't see it anyway and is still taking resources even when in HD mode.

Or turn it off in control panel as Terry mentions
