Special Buys, Discounts and BOGO MASTER THREAD: Put all special deals here!! - Page 5

they killed it last night for me, after having gotten in on the deal earlier in the day. so last night after i left cc with my head hung low, i drove over to best buy with my receipt in hand from earlier at cc and got them to price-match the bogo. even worked for $34 titles. very nice!
Does anyone know if the CC deal is working in any of their NYC stores and if so how are the selections at them?

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone posted the BOGO sale on Buena Vista Blu-Ray's on Deep Discount?

I just bought my last 2 BR at CC:

we were soldiers
letters from iwo jima

When the clerk rung the items, they were both full price. I told them that BR is BOGO. Manager came in and said take 50% off. I did not know that they corrected it today after reading the previous posts. Well, just my kind of day today. Good thing i got my haul yesterday from CC, algonquin IL .

Any else who got BOGO in other CC?

Went to CC an hour ago here in Tampa (Dale Mabry blvd) and there was NO- BOGO
post #126 of 3268
Just came back from CC in St. Petersburg. Very knowledgeable employee showed me an internal memo.

Apparently due to this form and others, CC got wind of this deal which was originally supposed to be limited to only 150 top stores but a computer glitch allowed all stores to be able to sell at BOGO. CC corrected the error last night. They have no obligation to honor or price match other stores for this deal and they do not have a list of the top 150 stores.

Bummer...

well thats some sh!tty news. I was just on my way to lunch to pick up some more movies. I still need Troy DC and Total Recall dammit.

I guess the big question is do the Top 150 still have the BOGO on all HDM, BD Only, Select BD or any deal at all anymore? My impression from your post is that the offer still stands for the 150 intended stores. I could be wrong but that would be nice if we knew where the top 150 stores were located.

My guess is that the Disney titles are still BOGO to counteract BB through Saturday.

Glad I picked up my discs Monday and Tuesday.

Yes, the sale is still on at 150 stores. Unfortunately the associate had no idea how to find the 150 top stores but he was pretty certain that none of them were in the Tampabay area.

Fry's is running a BOGO on 40 Disney and Sony titles.

Yes, Disney and select Sony titles are published in national ads until Saturday.

The other BOGO sale was unadvertised except to the 150 stores that qualified for the special.
so is the BOGO still going on for the 150 stores?

Nevermind I missed the post above.
Ok, I guess the next question is which stores are the 150 and are there any in NY?
I was at the 14th Street store earlier and it was only ringing up for the Blu-Ray's. There was one person that it didn't apply, but the cashier discounted it anyway. YMMV extremely now on this deal.

Well CC in RT 22 Springfield, New Jersey said the deal was for only one day, so i checked BB website at there store and since there still doing it, they gladly priced match for me. Nice people.
I got POTC 1&2 Transformers and Robocop. $15 each.

How did you get them to price match unpublished in-store only specials? (Robocop and Transformers)
I just check the bestbuy website and told them that bestbuy is still doing it. So they confirmed and said they would match it. I guess they really didn't bother to check which specific movies. they just saw that is said buy 1 get 1 free. On my reciept they just have them marked as 15.00 each.

Just got back from my local CC and both T1 and T2 rang up full price. The woman said it was because they were under 29.99 so I went and got two different movies for 29.99 and over and again full price. It was the same cashier that rang me up yesterday so she remembered the sale and forced the 50% off. So they are aware and the deal is dead but you still may be able to get them to honor the price with a little luck:-)

Movies like Hitch, House of Flying Daggers, etc. IMHO there's no point in buying a HD version of a movie that looks like an upconvert.

I have been buying all the movies that interest me. Most of these are movies I enjoy and will watch multiple times and a few of these are blind buys. I have yet to see an HD or BD that didn't look significantly better than the SD version upconverted on my Toshiba A2.

At an average of ~$12 per disc I figure I can recoupe my money if I dont like the movie and a significant amount of these discs would actualy cost the same/more on SD thanks to the Circuit City screw up.

I called the CC store where I went to in the past couple of days, to pick up some BD titles + Transformers. I got to know the sales associate and I asked her on the phone, if the BOGO was still valid and available. She told me that she rang up someone else earlier today, but the computer would not adjust the prices after entering the promo code. She then checked their ad and realized that they had screwed up, as the BOGO was initially only applicable to certain titles, but the code was not implemented properly in their computers, so all tiles below $30 were coming up good.

With that customer, she had to get managerial clearance and let the customer buy all that he had at the BOGO deal. She also told me that she would be prepared to extend the same courtesy to me only for today, as I had been there several times in the past couple of days. She told me that the offer was only good for today and that she would have to override everything manually. Needless to say that I will be making a final trip today and will be putting up more of my SD-DVDs up for sale on eBay. I may even buy some HD-DVD titles and get back into HD-DVD, which I moved out of back in June, because of a very inferior Toshiba D2/A2.

Is the Best Buy $14.99 on select titles in store still going?

I don't see this on-line.

No luck PMing to BB with CC receipt at the northcrest store in Fort Wayne, IN. They called CC to confirm the promo, and CC told them it was only for specific titles and couldn't give them a list of those titles. So I left Kingdom of Heaven, Weeds S2, Knocked Up, and 28 Days Later at the CS desk. I'll try the Jefferson Pointe BB later today.

Just a headsup, I bought 1 BR and 3 HD-DVDs from Circuit City and all of them rang up half off!

Hey, another St Pete AVS guy. Somebody over in the HDDVD version of this thread got the deal to work somewheres in Tampa, like Citrus Park or something? I was at the St Pete CC yesterday afternoon and was soooo disappointed that it didn't work. All I can do is live "vicariously" thru these forums and read about all the folks who got in on the good deal. I'm like some starving orphan looking in on a family eating dinner, or something like that....

KO

Anyone from New York that still was able to get the CC deal this afternoon? Is there anyone that has tried to PM in any of the BB here in NYC?
I had some luck between Blu-Rays & HD DVDs at CC & Fry's. I ended up with 10 BDs and 6 HD DVDs.
