I just received my rewards zone certificates in the mail. Attached was a $20 off when you buy 3 blu titles. I am curious if this would apply to the BOGOF deal. So I buy four titles get two free than apply the $20 discount cold this be possible, well I am going to find out tonight.

I ordered Hart's War and Men of Honor.
Is Hart's War pretty good? That's one of the choices for the 5 free BD's and I haven't seen it yet.

I got Crank and Underworld Evolution from the BB BOGO, only $20.83 thanks to a reward certificate. Now I just have to wait for my PS3 to come back from the repair center to watch them.

Man, these BOGO's are getting insane! I picked up Die Hard 1-3, Terminator, Last Waltz, Edward Scissorhands, Robocop, and Rescue Dawn for $82 shipped from Amazon w/ my 10% off.

SO glad I held off on getting the Die Hard set. Now I'll be able to pick up Die Hard 4 unrated individually when it comes out.

it just occured to me that some of the Blu-ray discs that I bought during
this insane week cost less than $13 each.

for comparison, my local movie theater charges $12 per adult ticket.
(another ~$10 for popcorn & soda)

Yeah, well it occurred to me a few days ago that virtually every bd or hd dvd disc would run me NO MORE THAN $8.50 a piece! Thats with the 10% and Amazon Visa deal...At least on the bogos, that is...holy crap I've bought more than 30 movies in the last few days...I keep hearing the little angel say, "nah, I don't need Hoosiers on BD"...then the little devil hops up onto my shoulder and says, "hey, it's only $8.50 you cheap SOB!" The little devil keeps winning...

And if you think this is bad, I also picked up seasons 1-7 of deep space 9 on DVD at Deep Discount for their 20% off deal. And seasons of SG1, Atlantis, Crime Story, Due South, Twin Peaks and more. Then DD had the deal on the Star Trek films...got all 10 for $38...then DD had a bogo on fox tv sets...got the MASH set for 139 and for my freebee got rodgers and hammerstein collection...and amazon had a tv deal a few weeks back where i got 3 seasons of the pretender and two of the office...and I picked up all 7 seasons of the west wing at worst buy for $15 per season...

I used to have this problem with books...would go to a used book store and come home with bags of books...could never possibly read them all, though i read many...then did it with video games...now BD/HD discs...I really need some help...

Going to cancel one of my cable boxes and HBO to try to recover some of my costs...just watch dvds for a while...

Oh yeah, and transformers, bourne ultimatum, spidey 3 and potter order of phoenix at the BB BOGO for about $16 each. Relatively expensive...twice as much as most of my other discs! But hey, less than the DVD version...friggin amazing...

The blu-rays I bought this week cost $8.68 each. In comparison my local movie theater charges $8 per ticket. And I thought $8 per ticket was too much.

I noticed that the Amazon site had a message saying:

" Double your Blu-ray collection for half the price. From Terminator to Edward Scissorhands, we have the Blu-ray you want , and when you buy one, you get one free."

I thought sweet Edward Scissorhands! I don't have that. Then I was disappointed that it wasn't on the sale. So I tried adding it with another "listed" BOGO Bluray and was I surprised when it came up as BOGO!

So there may be some non-listed BOGO Blurays if someone wants to take a look.

I got Edward Scissorhands and Mr. Brooks for ~$22 with all my discounts.

Its crazy that we are calling $16 relatively expensive. I remember the Circuit City mistake Bogo, and what a great deal it was getting movies for $12-15. Now most blu titles have been availiable for under $10 at some time during the last month.

I have not seen but have wanted to; my first choice was Men of Honor and chose Hart's War because I thought it would be a good double feature one weekend afternoon. At this price I am willing take a chance on it. The reviews were decent.

You're not the only one. Half of my HD media are still unopened, and I find myself pulling the trigger on HD movies that I had no particular urge to see again before these sales started popping up. I justify by saying I haven't seen them in hi-def before, but the bottom line is that I can't seem to pass up a killer offer ($8-10 for a HD movie is hard to refuse). Geez, I have >10 Blu-ray discs and I don't even have a player yet!

And I've been stocking up on SD DVDs as well. 3 seasons of Arrested Development, 4 seasons of The Wire, 2 seasons of Rome, 1st 3 Die Hards, Band of Brothers, 3 seasons of Millennium, etc, etc. When will I find the time to watch it all?

I've also been thinking about putting a hold on Netflix and watching some of what I've bought.
All these deals are tempting, but i've curtailed buying blu-rays for the most part once I realized that I actually won't have the time to watch all these movies. At the rate that I watch titles (2 a week) it would take at least 6 months if I bought all these titles. You guys are hardcore!

It's not so much that we watch them all in a short period of time it is that when you sit down to watch a movie you have a wide choice. I love inviting people over to watch a movie and allowing them to pick from a huge library. This is really the only reason I watch movies multiple times.

If you have no need for a large library then I am not sure I would buy anything but the major blockbuster movies and just use Netflix.

Certainly, I totally understand! I'm in the camp that doesn't need a large library, though I guess large is subjective. I have around 60-65 BD titles in total, and i'm constantly trading & selling titles. I thought that was large, until I realized that 60 titles is just what some people bought last week. Anyway, as long as we are all enjoying them and having fun. No harm done.

The other thing that concerns me is the long term stability of the new polymer
that Blu-ray discs use.... Unlike CD & DVD, this material has not had a long
track record.... just hope it doesn't deterioate 5 years down the road....
I had a bad experience with a dozen or so LaserDiscs back a decade ago.
Certain titles were produced with an adhesive that went bad after just one
year. Fortunately, the studio(Image Entertanment) replaced those for me.

No new titles added to the Fox/MGM deal, eh? I own too many of the good titles already, unfortunately. I really want something to buy with Rescue Dawn.

I picked up Harry Potter 1-4 at Wal*Mart today for $80.67. Not bad. Not bad at all. I got the fifth movie as part of the Best Buy BOGO with Mr. & Mrs. Smith. My spending on Blu-ray has really ramped up in the last month or so.

they've just added 2 new titles, which I think are "The Marines" and "Windtalkers".

I just ordered for my wife devil wears prada and phone booth for 22.75(dvdsave5 worked again)
Thanks for the heads up on edward scissorhands. Really odd that this is part of the promo but not on those two pages on amazon. I ended up getting Rescue Dawn and Edward Scissorhands. Plus I'm one of the 10% off all high-def purchases at amazon and it applies the discount before the BoGo so My bill looked sort of like this:

Movies - $27.95 x 2 = 55.90
Discount (10%) - 5.59
BoGo -27.95
--------------------------------
Total 22.36

Pretty good deal. Unfortunately, it says that Rescue Dawn won't ship until after christmas but I have probably about 20 movies to get through before then anyway. 11 bucks a movie. Good deal!

Hart's War is a pretty good movie by the way. I got it for the 5 free movies with purchase of a blu ray player. It isn't action packed or anything, but it has a good story and it is believable.

How strange. Are there any others?

I tried it with Cast Away. Didn't work.
Anyone try Cast Away on the BOGO at Amazon? Out of curiosity, since Edward Scissorhands also worked.

Edit: Looks like the above poster tried it. Oh well.

On the BOGO from BB, I ordered on-line last night and pick them (2 orders of 2 BDs each) today for $10 less each order because BB failed to beat the < 1min garantee. I was aware of that till looked at the receipt that said "$10 adjustment."

Awesome, Knocked up & Evan Almighty for $10.00 + tax and Chuck/Larry & Mr. Bean for $20 + tax.

Cool deal!!!

Heading off to Amazon.com for Windtalker and more... ;-)
Just a quick note for those digging the Fox/MGM BOGO titles, that there are also several Lionsgate titles that dropped in price to $13.95 today on Amazon:
Stargate $13.95
Stir of Echoes $13.95
The Devil's Rejects $13.95
The Punisher $13.95
Total Recall $13.95
Terminator 2 $13.95

Apologies to those who've already overspent.

EDIT: Added T2.

It took them more than a minute to obtain the disks after you arrived at the counter? What happened to cause that? The disks couldn't be that far away.
