Are you guys just trying to buy every HD-DVD and Blu-Ray disc out there? I bought a few from these different deals, but I've been intentionally been avoiding the ones that are panned for less than ideal video quality in the HighDef Digest reviews. Movies like Hitch, House of Flying Daggers, etc. IMHO there's no point in buying a HD version of a movie that looks like an upconvert.

Even the worst of HDM still looks and sounds better than DVD (even upconverted) And yes, including HOFD.

I loaded up on a ton between Amazon, Circuit City and Fry's this week. My wife is pissed, but I told her I wasn't buying anything on either format unless it was $15 or under. Ding, ding, ding!!!

Too bad Basic Instict and Crash were floppin' around inside the case otherwise I'd have two more. I'm going to go back in a few days to see what's left.

The biggest question...why the sudden fire sale of everything...more so on Blu than HD-DVD?

My CC had everything HD BOGO. I bought a ton of Blu Ray and HDDVD's two for one.

And for $10 bucks which to me is less than a new dvd anyways (for the most part) why not. it helps build my collection. And to tell you the truth if i knew disney was having a BOGO and then the CC F'UP i wouldve bought a few less titles from frys. But for the most part i got a better release regardless with much better sound, and they were all movies i didnt own on dvd anyways.

Because of Transformers on HD-DVD, it's believed that Disney and Sony went with the BOGO. The reason that any HD-DVD's are being sold is because CC screwed up.
Only Dracula at Fry's for me. CC didn't have anything I was looking for. For some reason, all the copies of Dracula at Fry's didn't come with the slipcase.

If anyone's on the fence about RoboCop, I watched it last night, and personally, I think it's about the best you can expect this film to ever look, without some kind of digital magic to "restore" the film to a look it probably never had. I expected a dark, gritty-looking film circa 1987, and that's how it looks. You can tell when they use different types of cameras or film stock (in-car cameras, night scenes), but I think if anyone complains about the look, they're mostly complaining about the film source. Transfer-wise, I saw no problems. Some scenes are shockingly clear and more HD-licious than I'd have expected. It really shines at times, and the whole presentation is very film-like, which I prefer over a plastic-y frain removal makeover. YMMV on a 100" screen, however, since I watch on 38" direct view CRT. Also, few have pointed out that in addition to the 5.1 remix in DTS MA it has what I presume is the original soundtrack in DD 4.0. And though you get only one trailer as the extra, it IS in HD.

My Circuit City in Clearwater, FL must have been the only store on the ball because I was greeted with 2 full prices being rung up last night.
I have zero interest in any of the Disney titles (the ones I don't have already) so that deal is useless.
I hope Circuit City (and other retailers/mfgs) take notice.
At $15 a piece, the movies I were picking up were impulse buys that I had no problem purchasing, change that to $30 each and you can see me talking myself out of buying any title that isn't AAA.

So well said. I constantly assess the selection of HDM and gauge the pricing and how much of a deal I can get. ALL the titles I've bought with the exception of Transformers were on that "man I'd like to own it, I know I'll watch it again, but it's too expensive" fence. This sale was more than enough to push me over the edge.
Has anyone tried to get the deal today? I won't be able to get to a CC for a few hours today.

Agreed 100% i bought 22 BR's within 4 days this week alone. About 19 of which i would never ever have paid full price for, or even $20 for. Almost every title i bought from frys for 9.99 was impulse.

The undisclosed BOGO at CC is where i actually bought movies i would pay full price for but cant always afford or bring myself to. Even then that was only 8 movies out of my total 28 purchased.

Im hoping it will still work today, as there are a few more movies id like to look around for, but if it doesnt, oh well i was able to score 30 from them lol.

I would also like to know if the deal is still alive or not because I don't wanna drive 15+ miles to get to Circuit city for nothing.

I tried to get 4 more HD titles this morning at Eatontown but alas, after the clerk was on the phone with somebody for 10 minutes she said no HD titles. Just BR. Win some lose some.
I went to the CC near Sunrise in Sacramento.

Got 12 BD and HD-DVDs for a whopping $168.

I'm praying this is still going on today.

Good point....I did the same thing I checked the tier thread from each format
and got those who are in tier gold/silver and 4.6 and up with hd dvd. I believed some of these titles worth a rental, I also relied on highdefdigest reviews and others. But it is really hard to resist if it is between 9.99 and 15.00 bucks for hd.

Can anyone report on Norther Virginia stores today? I went to the Manassas store last night and the discount didn't ring up. I didn't press any further. If the discounts are still confirmed for all HDM today at NOVA stores, I may run out during lunch.
Strange... I picked up some discs at the Manassas store 10 mins. before it closed last night and the discount worked fine.
boy, I sure wish CC hadn't pulled out of our area.....no chance of doing this online?

Damn! Did you have to ask for the discount? What did you pick up? I had a skinny young blonde haired lad ring up my 4 discs (2BD and 2HD). They didn't show up as a discount.

Just went back on my lunch break and tried to get Memento and Waiting, but the clerk said corporate called and alerted them of the mistake and it rung up as regular price. Oh well, I'm glad i got in on it yesterday. This is in Chesapeake, VA BTW.
Got the same thing...Tried it here in Winston-Salem, NC, but they've fixed the error. No longer BOGO on all titles. Didn't try the Disney titles though.
I went to the CC in Johnstown, PA this morning and tried to buy Day After Tomorrow and The Messengers and they rang up as full price. When I mentioned the sale, they were clueless and said maybe it's only on HD DVDs. I just told them to forget about it.
Tried the Princeton CC and it was full price.

So, would it be accurate to consider this deal dead? Anyone else able to use this today?
