I'm one of the dogs that chased that tail for a long time....that is, "I'm holding off until they fix this or that bug...or this company is bringing out the latest/greatest right around the corner".
Every time I got frustrated....very frustrated. I'm in the software industry. We call that cycle "vaporware".
I've had some pretty expensive gear, where the vendor was supposedly upgrading their gear via firmware or software fixes. Everytime I saw something with an RS 232 port, I can't tell you how many times I jumped on it with the promise that that particular gear would allow me to simply plug it in and have things fixed or upgraded. Rarely happened.
These days, I stick my flag in the sand and look at what's here, now. I run with that.
As it stands, the 983 may very well be released tomorrow. It may fulfil every hope and dream I have for a SD DVD player. But today, it's not here. I can only upgrade with what's available today.
I guess it's the 980 for me, then.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
