Warhawk Wednesday! - Page 626

Thanks for putting the thread back up.

With all due respect, David, after the warning, most everyone was staying on-topic. So really there was no reason for the entire thread to be taken down while it was on-topic.

Anyway, thanks again for putting it back up. I'm sure many of the people that visit the thread will be glad to have it back.

Thanks David. I, for one, appreciate the fact that this is your sandbox. I have never found the rules or enforcement thereof to be onerous or arbitrary. AVSForum has been of enormous value to me over the years, and I appreciate your continuing commitment to providing a quality source for info and conversation.

Moderating a forum of this size is surely daunting at times, and I think users sometimes forget the fact that they do not have the right to "freedom of speech" without limits in SOMEONE ELSES'S FORUM. This is NOT a public forum. It belongs to you, and you have the right to manage it as you see fit. We as users have the right to participate, or not, according to the rules you establish, subject to your (and your Mods) interpretation and enforcement. Those that may disagree with your rules can go elsewhere and host their own forum, and set whatever rules they choose.

BTW, if I have been one of those who has crossed a line, please understand that it has been a sin of ignorance, not arrogance. A PM with the details would be appreciated, and I'll correct the issue, if any.

Thanks again.

Hi Guys...

I just removed some posts as I want this to please move forward. Have fun, but please remember that this site is really for support and help (and then some). I am all for people interacting on a like topic, but it does not need to get into other areas that we really do not wish to have here as they tend to make issues among members.

(FYI...I was one that never wanted a gaming area on the site. It was some of the mods, Mike included, that really pushed for it for the members. Please be so kind not to cross, or play with, the line. I would hate to see accounts closed as their is much more on this site that would then be lost to the member. Reminder...Members can also help "police" other new members who may come in by letting them know if their posts cross the lines.)

KingShorty...There were a few posts that were made after that notice that attacked a moderator outright that were removed. As such, it did not stay on topic and the member who started it was removed.

Thanks

I'm glad to see that this thread is back up. I bought this game a long time ago but only recently picked it back up to learn how to play it (hopefully some day well). As some have noted, there is a steep learning curve as against those who have been playing for a long time. As a result, I appreciate that this thread has a lot of helpful information and the ongoing offer of help going forward is nice. There are always posts in a thread that people are less interested in than others, it's just the way of the internet.

Moving forward, can we get a Warhawk boot camp set up?

I'm with you on this Giz. I bought this based on the guys in this thread recommending it and I know 1 thing, I get owned every time I try to play and give up. So if there was a "bootcamp" I would sign up.

I would suggest you send friend requests to some of the members on this thread and jump onto games with them when they are online. Also check out the thread for Warhawk tips that has some very useful pointers(i believe there is a link to that thread on the first page of this thread).

aren't the green servers "rookie" servers?

I believe the Green servers are official 'Sony' servers.. and not per-se Rookie servers. The Rookie servers are identified by the name of the server itself(it would have rookie in the name in think). Rookie servers are rank limited so most of us who have been playing for a while cannot join in on those servers anymore because of being ranked up. That said, they are the best place to start and learn the ropes. I also think there is a basic tutorial in the game that you can go through once to get a hang of all the weapons etc.

We've done AVS bootcamp nights before. I've been playing a lot more lately as I've been learning the ways of the warhawk. Lots of fun in the air.........as long as there isn't a crazy ace on the other team.

I'd be willing to spend some time in a bootcamp server having guys chase me and shoot at me while we break off a little of our learning curve.

ironpaws used to host servers to help new guys learn some of the basic tips and tricks. if you guys want, i can put a bug in his ear to host another round of training sessions.

as big of a dope as he can be sometimes, he does have a big heart.

anyway, i'll pass it on to him as i think he enjoys being a warhawk sensei.

Quick question Warhawk players, is there still a lot of online play for this game? I'm a PS3 newbie and am considering getting this game. But I'll hold off if online numbers are dwindling. Thanks!
Definitely get it. There are plenty of people on it. I'm addicted to this game. (even though it can be very frustrating) I've had cod4 and lots of other games that I haven't given a fair enough chance to really try because all of my game time goes to Warhawk. So I can't compare my opinion of it against others, but it's easily worth the money in my opinion.

? The other day I was playing fortress and my teammate was running right beside me on the outside of the base. He was obviously out-running me as he continued to pull away from me...So the question is how is that happening? Is there game advantages to improving your rank or could it be differences in internet and speed? I never played to improve rank, so I wouldn't know. My girlfriend and I are usually on together playing split screen games. I assume those games don't increase rank because I know I've put in a whole lot more hours than what my profile shows. Any input would be appreciated.

if you guys want an avs clan invite, send me a message via the psn and i'll get you on the list.

btw, the WW server is being run by alphashepherd tonight. password, as always, is "avs".
i don't know about dwindling numbers...i find it hard to find games to get into sometimes (the official server ones that is)

be warned that this game has a tendency to take over your life - its addictive like nothing else. it seems tough initially - and if you don't give up at that stage you will be all set.

enjoy!

I picked up a copy of the game today after playing the demo last night. It was a ton of fun, even though I just mostly ran in circles and died a lot. I used a coupon and bought a used copy for $17. I love cheap entertainment. Look for a clan request from me before long. Thanks!

I'm not...Warhawk is serious business. How old are you guys

- You can speed up a tow missile when in flight by pressing either L1 or R1 (maybe it's L2 or R2)...I forget which one.
